Throughout 'A.K.A. Kansas', you can tell the writers are having fun on the job. A spirited shooting contest good sense of humor, Socrates crashing at Bowler's stately mansion; and all of this while the Bly gang member of the week (dastardly smooth Christopher Rich) winds up in a love triangle with Brisco and Dixie. they also have to work in the orb, but that's done easily enough.
And all of this is before future Bruce Campbell shows up to "borrow" the orb from the present one. I've always liked that scene; it's how you know we're in on the eve of the show's journey down the rabbit hole.
