The addition of 2 new crates in the game, The Inferno and Bolt multiplayer crates, were created as a bet between designers that if they could create new crate types in the game, they would buy him a case of beer. This was because they thought it was impossible to add any new worthwhile crate types as they thought they created every single crate type they possibly could.
The game was reportedly a complete mess and a total disaster leading up to 2 weeks before the game was due to go gold (going gold is when game development is finished and the game is printed onto discs and distributed to stores to await release), with many of the developers terrified that they would create Insomniac Games' first ever bad game. However during the final 2 weeks, they somehow managed to fix the game and iron out most of the issues. Ironically, Ratchet & Clank 3 became the highest rated Ratchet & Clank game of all time and remains so to this day.
