Storyline

This parody of an Afterschool Special would prompt Comedy Central to commission the television series "Strangers with Candy." 47-year old Jerri Blank has just returned home for the first time in 32 years after running away to support her drug habit by becoming a prostitute. Now set on turning her life around, she goes back to high school and becomes a candy-striper. But on the third day of school, the faculty demands that she help them get a girl expelled because of her suspected mental retardation.

Most of the cast had previously been involved in Comedy Central's defunct series, Exit 57 (1995). After seeing this film, though, Comedy Central contacted Amy Sedaris, Mitch Rouse, Stephen Colbert, and Paul Dinello and asked them to return to work for them, along with the cast they'd assembled.
