When Rains, Haskell and Meyerhold enter the cube with a dead body, Haskell suggests he starved to death, with Rains replying "God, I'm hungry". This is a reference to Cube²: Hypercube (2002), where a character complained of hunger and killed a fellow captive and ate him.

The ending sequence with Wynn as mentally handicapped is a direct reference to the original Cube (1997) movie. The lines are exactly the same but the characters are different.

At the end of the film, Rains makes a comment that Wynn was like a superhero. When Wynn is shown lobotomized, his hand-motion is perpetually that of Spider-Man's webslinging.
