This Bob Hope special had some entertaining moments
19 December 2017 | by tavmSee all my reviews

Well, this is my first review of a Bob Hope special that's uploaded on YouTube. This was one of several that aired as part of his Chrysler series during the '60s when it was mixed with various filmed drama plays each week. This was also his first special that was taped in color. His monologue was funny most of the time as was much of his first sketch with Bing Crosby. Nancy Wilson then sings a couple of touching songs. Next comes Jack Benny who plays an escaped prisoner who ends up at Santa Claus' toy shop. Hope as Santa and Benny trade some amusing jokes though it wears then before the sketch ends. This is then followed by another sketch in which Hope plays a movie star wanting to run for senate with wife Janet Leigh also attempting to do so. This was mostly lame. Cosby then sings "Do You Hear What I Hear?". During the goodnights, Jack Benny plugs Bob's album "On the Road to Vietnam" after which Bob plugs the next ep of "Chrysler Theatre" which stars Robert Young and Robert Reed in a WWII drama. Overall, this show had some moments though nothing really memorable. Next, I'll review a Christmas "Hollywood Palace" starring Bing with his guests, the cast of "Hogan's Heroes".
