Suffering from indifference, the wife does not appreciate the love bestowed upon her by her husband. Her husband, disheartened, leaves for the far away north. Six months later he finds himself in the uncivilized regions of the snow-covered mountain trails of the great north country. In the meantime, his wife has had time to repent her foolishness and now that she is to become a mother, longs for her husband's society. She decides to search for him. While she is traveling on dogsleds, clasping the child to her breast, he is lunging deeper and deeper into the wilds of the forests. In making his way down a deep descent he loses his footing and falls heavily to the bottom, breaking his leg. Clad in heavy furs, his wife, with her little boy is carried on the dogsled, piloted by the faithful guide "Caribou Bill," arrives at the trappers' hut where she is told of her husband having passed that way a few hours before; the rough but tender-hearted men induce her to leave her baby with them, if...
