Sex & Nudity

  • At a party two women's breasts are shown.
  • A husband and wife kiss passionately on the beach and then he lies on top of her before the scene ends.
  • A wife appears in front of her husband wearing a bathrobe. She takes it off revealing a sexy outfit underneath. He kisses her neck and the scene abruptly ends.
  • The protagonist is shown shirtless in numerous scenes.
  • Two gay men kiss. This is shown from a distance.
  • A young man walks outside a strip club with two prostitutes wearing revealing clothing follow after him and he pays them. In another scene the same character is shown shirtless as he walks to his bed. Seconds later, a woman wearing very skimpy undies follows him and wraps her arms around him. The scenes abruptly ends before anything else can be shown.
  • A man tells another man he would have friends in prison kill him in a "deeply pornographic" manner. (Implied that the man would be raped to death)

Violence & Gore

  • A man is crushed by a falling bookshelf and is pinned to a desk with it against his arm. The protagonist puts an explosive in his hand while wiring the pin to the ceiling before leaving him to die. The trapped man pleads and the scene ends. Later, his scream is heard followed by an explosion, implying his death.
  • Several men are shot with arrows
  • A man ejects a knife blade at another man holding a gun. The blade sticks in the second man's neck and blood spurts
  • A man is hit in the head with a paper cutter
  • There is a prolonged sequence where two men fight. Lots of punching and throwing. Both are stabbed at least once and one of them is splashed in the face with a pot of boiling water. He is then tackled by the other man down a staircase where he breaks his neck (his head is turned around).
  • A man is stabbed through the hand and leg (causing his hand to stick to his leg). He is then stabbed with a knife in the throat. The blade is visible in the man's open mouth.
  • A man is splashed in the face with a pan of hot food/oil and then is hit in the head with same pan.
  • A lot of bloodless violence.
  • A man is shot by a SWAT officer and shown lying on the ground soaked in blood, but this is revealed to be a ruse.
  • Four other men are shot dead by SWAT officers, but there is little blood.
  • A man is kicked repeatedly.
  • A man shoots another in the knee, shoulder and then a third time, killing him; there is little blood.
  • Several people are shot, including young children, but there is no blood.
  • A man shoots another in the chest; blood spurts.
  • A man kills another by shooting a gas canister; he is shown being engulfed in flames and his burning body is shown.
  • A man is shot in the back, but there is no blood.
  • A man wrestles with another and throws him to the floor. He is grabbed from behind by a second man who is then stabbed in the back (no blood). The man on the ground then attacks him with a knife; he overpowers him, cuts his cheek, and slams his head into a post.
  • Gunmen chase a woman and her young son and force them to crash by shooting out the tires on their car; leaving them with bloody wounds. They flee and and are chased down and run over; upsetting, but not overly graphic.
  • A man is shot in the leg and shoulder with blood spurting from the impact. His adversary then kicks and punches him repeatedly in the face, breaking his nose and leaving his eye swollen shut. He is then shot in the chest; this is shown from a distance.
  • There is a scene where people are being tortured by having their piercings removed with pliers. It happens behind the scenes, so you'll doesn't see anything.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some drinking and casual smoking nothing off note.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene in which the main villain stabs his friend to death is very emotionally upsetting and difficult to watch as the man pleads for his friend to stop and has no idea why he is being killed. The villain then kills his wife by throwing her on the train tracks and she is hit by a train.
  • There is a scene where Frank prepares to torture a man hanging upside down for information by blow torching his back, however, he really torches a steak and sticks his popsicle to his back. The man doesn't know this until after he gives Frank the information he wanted. This might be intense, but it's meant to be funny.
  • Frank tricks Saint into killing his wife and his closest friend on false accusations, none of them know why he does it. This might be very upsetting.
  • "The Punisher" may lack in violence, but the raw practicality and lack of CGI make it look very real and gritty, making it all the more intense.
  • In spite of its light violence, the film has a very dark and depressing tone, as it is about a man whose entire family tree is completely massacred who then goes out on a violent vendetta after the ones responsible.
