Here is the evidence the police secured against Jack Darcy within half an hour: At a late hour at night he was seen climbing up the fire escape of the Hotel Magnificent, but before the woman who spied him could recover from her terror sufficiently to give the alarm, he had clambered in the open window of room 310. The next moment a pistol shot was heard. Darcy dashed out through the window, but was captured at the foot of the fire escape. He declined to give any explanation regarding his movements. Investigation showed that the occupant of room 310, a wealthy westerner named Henry Grayson, had been shot to death in his bed. His daughter, who was in another room in the same suite, broke down when she was told of the tragedy. The police had no chance to question her. They figured they had enough evidence to hang young Darcy. The Commissioner of Police took a personal interest in the case, for Grayson and his father had been boyhood pals. A clever mystery picture, with Ben Wilson, Dorothy Phillips and Reggie Morris in the leading roles. The hero is accused of shooting the girl's father, but the police commissioner proves that a mouse had gnawed an electric wire so that it discharged the weapon.
