Jan Broberg Kidnapping Doc ‘Abducted In Plain Sight’ Gets Podcast Spin-Off
Exclusive: Feature documentary Abducted in Plain Sight, which airs on Netflix and covers the kidnappings of actress Jan Broberg when she was a kid, is getting a podcast spin-off.

Obsessed With: Abducted In Plain Sight, which will be hosted by the film’s director Skye Borgman, is itself a spin-off of true crime comedy podcast True Crime Obsessed. It becomes the first podcast from the Obsessed Network, which was established by Patrick Hinds.

Abducted In Plain Sight tells the true story of Broberg, an Idaho teenager who was abducted by her neighbor Robert Berchtold in the 1970s on two separate occasions. Broberg went on to become an actress and starred in TV series including CBS’ Touched By An Angel and The WB’s Everwood as well as feature Maniac alongside Elijah Wood.

The spin-off podcast, which is co-hosted and produced by Hinds, will take a deep dive into the documentary.

‘New Amsterdam’ Creator David Schulner Inks Overall Deal With Universal TV
David Schulner is doubling down with Universal Television.

The “New Amsterdam” creator and showrunner David Schulner has inked a four-year overall deal with the studio, extending a relationship which dates back to 2010. Under the deal, Schulner will develop, write and executive produce programming across multiple platforms including network, cable and streaming.

Schulner will continue to exec produce and showrun the NBC medical drama, and the news comes less than a month after “New Amsterdam” received a hefty three-season renewal from the network. Season 2 of “New Amsterdam” is currently averaging a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.8 million viewers in the Nielsen Live+7 ratings. In terms of viewership, the series is averaging a lift of 4.6 million viewers per episode in Live+7.

Schulner’s deal follows less than a week in the heels of another substantial agreement between Utv and Julie Plec, which sources say is valued in the mid-eight figure range north

New Amsterdam” showrunner David Schulner has signed a four-year overall deal with Universal TV.

Schulner will develop, write and executive produce programming for network, cable and streaming platforms. This new deal extends the relationship Schulner has had with Utv since 2010. He will remain as showrunner for NBC’s “New Amsterdam,” which was recently renewed for three more seasons.

“David is a versatile writer and showrunner who has proven himself adept in multiple genres,” Universal TV President Pearlena Igbokwe said. His very clear vision and leadership has been critical to the breakout success of ‘New Amsterdam’ around the world. I’m grateful that we get to continue this decade-long relationship.”

On the heels of New Amsterdam landing a massive three-season renewal by NBC, the studio behind the medical drama, Universal Television, has signed creator/executive producer David Schulner into a big new four-year deal.

Under the pact, believed to be in the eight-figure range, Schulner will continue as executive producer/showrunner on New Amsterdam, now in its second season on NBC. He also will develop, write and executive produce programming targeting network, cable and streaming platforms for Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios.

Schulner has been under a string of overall deals with Universal TV since 2010.

Chris Pratt has spent most of the last decade in the once-unlikely position as one of Hollywood's biggest breakout stars. However, despite a budding big-budget backlog, the A-lister is planning his return to the medium on which he got his start: television.

Pratt has signed on for a television project titled The Terminal List, on which he’ll serve as headlining star and executive producer. Chris Pratt-Led ‘The Terminal List’ TV Series in the Works at Mrc
Chris Pratt is lining up his first TV gig in nearly five years. The “Park & Recreation” alum is set to star and executive produce “The Terminal List” with Antoine Fuqua.

The series, which doesn’t have a network attached, is being developed by Mrc Television. Fuqua will direct the pilot as well as executive produce.

It is based on the Jack Carr novel of the same name. Pratt will star as Reece, whose entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. As he returns home with conflicting memories of the event and questions about culpability, new evidence comes to light as Reece discovers dark forces working against him.

Chris Pratt could soon be returning to the small screen.

Variety has learned that Pratt is attached to star in and executive produce a series adaptation of the Jack Carr novel “The Terminal List.” Antoine Fuqua is attached to direct and executive produce, with Fuqua and Pratt having brought the project to the studio. David Digilio is set to write executive produce the series.

Digilio previously created the ABC series “Traveler.” He most recently worked as a writer and executive producer on the CBS All Access series “Strange Angel.” Pratt will executive produce via his Indivisible Productions. Fuqua will direct and executive produce under his Fuqua Films banner. The show is Civic Center Media project in association with Media Rights Capital (Mrc) Television. Civic Center was formed in 2018 as a joint venture between UTA, Valence Media, and Mrc.

Scott Wolf, who played Dr. Jake Hartman on Everwood, is paying tribute to his former co-star, the late Stephanie Niznik, who recently passed away at the age of 52.

Niznik died on June 23, and news of her passing was first announced on Friday. No cause of death has been reported.

“This is heartbreaking,” Wolf shared on Twitter.

“She was so kind, and so fun to work with. I’m lucky to have known her. Rest In Peace Stephanie.”

Niznik played Nina Feeney on all four seasons of the WB drama series. Wolf's Jake was Nina's love interest during the show's final two seasons.

Stephanie Niznik Dies: ‘Everwood’ & ‘Star Trek’ Actress Was 52
Actress Stephanie Niznik, best known for her roles as Nina Feeney on Everwood and as Kell Perim in Star Trek: Insurrection, died June 23 in Encino, California. She was 52.

The Bangor, Maine native played neighbor Nina Feeney on the WB medical drama series Everwood throughout its four-season run from 2002-2006. She also was a series regular in the mid-1990s action drama Vanishing Son and the 2007 drama Life Is Wild.

Her additional credits include guest roles on Nash Bridges, NCIS and CSI: Miami and recurring roles on Grey’s Anatomy and Diagnosis Murder.

On the film side, she played Trill Starfleet Ensign Kell Perim in the feature Star Trek: Insurrection, then went on to play the Wraith in the “Rogue Planet” episode of the series Star Trek: Enterprise.
