Will Hulu boost ‘Veronica Mars’ to new awards heights after it was snubbed on Upn and CW?

It is a truth universally acknowledged that awards voters have hardly noticed the WB, Upn and CW networks ever existed. That’s one reason why critically hailed shows like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gilmore Girls” rarely got the time of day. Ditto for “Veronica Mars,” but after years off the air the teenage sleuth returned for a grownup mystery this summer — this time on the awards-friendlier Hulu. Does that bode well for the show at the upcoming Golden Globes?

The Globes love new shows and fresh faces, so they have often been an exception to the rule when it comes to recognizing those under-rewarded networks. Keri Russell (WB’s “Felicity”), Gina Rodriguez (CW’s “Jane the Virgin”) and Rachel Bloom (CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) have all taken home awards from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Both Sarah Michelle Gellar (WB’s “Buffy”) and Lauren Graham (WB’s “Gilmore”) earned nominations too.

Jennifer Garner to Duet With Andrea Bocelli on New Album, Proving She Really Can Do Everything

  • Popsugar
Somehow Jennifer Garner has found the time in between starting an organic baby food company, playing saxophone for her celebrity friends, being Hollywood's most beautiful woman, and kicking just about everyone's ass to show off her voice on Andrea Bocelli's upcoming album. Truly, how does she do it? Does Starbucks have something on their secret menu that can give me the energy she has?!

Garner will duet with the Italian opera singer, who she's been friends with for quite some time, on an extended special edition release of Bocelli's Si, now titled Si Forever: The Diamond Edition. Together they'll sing "Dormi Dormi Lullaby" in both Italian and English, a song which was inspired by the chorale "Jesus bleibetmeine Freude" from J.S. Bach's Cantata Bwv 147.

Although Garner is known primarily for her acting rather than her voice, her vocals appeared on the song "Doin' It (All For My Baby

JJ Abrams’ Hollywood takeover: will he save or kill cinema?

The film-maker’s deal with Warner suggests further dominance – but he’s hardly an innovator

It is JJ Abrams’s multiverse; we just live in it. That’s how it’s starting to feel, at least. The prolific producer-director-writer-geek overlord has had a hand in so many pop-culture properties over the past decade, it feels like he has basically won Hollywood. Star Wars (he’s finishing off Episode IX right now), Star Trek, Mission Impossible – all have benefited from the Abrams touch. Not to mention his zeitgeisty TV series: Lost, Westworld and Alias. Unsurprisingly, everybody wants him.

Last week, we found out just how much: Abrams’s company Bad Robot signed a $250m “mega-deal” to produce film, TV and digital content for WarnerMedia. Apple reportedly offered him double that but he went with Warner. This immediately lit up lightbulbs in one quadrant of the fan galaxy: Warner is the home of DC Comics’ superheroes.

J.J. Abrams And James Gunn To Take Charge Of The Dceu

J.J. Abrams recently signed a massive $500m exclusive deal with WarnerMedia to write, produce and direct content for the media company across multiple platforms including film, television, streaming and video games under the Bad Robot banner. There are clearly huge plans for Abrams once he finishes working on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and given his experience and success in handling established franchises like Star Wars and Mission: Impossible, the DC Extended Universe could be next on his hit list.

The filmmaker has previous experience with DC-related movies, having written the script for Superman: Flyby, which came close to getting the official greenlight back in 2002 when he was still best-known for his small screen work on Felicity and Alias. However, it also looks like Abrams might not be tackling the Dceu alone, with James Gunn also rumored to help shape the direction of the franchise going forward.

WarnerMedia Unveils J.J. Abrams, Bad Robot Mega-Deal

  • Variety
WarnerMedia has formally announced its mega-deal with J.J. Abrams, the “Lost” creator and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” filmmaker who set off an intense courtship across Hollywood as he searched for a new studio home.

The pact will see Bad Robot, the production company that Abrams runs with his wife and co-ceo, Katie McGrath, make movies, shows, games, and other entertainment content for the company. On Thursday, the companies said that the wide-ranging agreement commences immediately and initially runs through 2024.

Abrams is held in such high regard for his ability to tell compelling stories and create and revive franchises that he drew interest from the likes of Disney, Apple, and Comcast. His team made it clear that any company interested in attracting his services would have to offer the ability to showcase Bad Robot on a broad array of platforms. They also were searching for a record-shattering pact. To that end,

‘Limetown’ Review: Jessica Biel Enlivens Facebook Watch’s Spooky Podcast Adaptation — Tiff

How do you tell a mystery twice? If you’re the makers of “Limetown,” you don’t mess with what already worked. Adapted from the popular 2015 podcast (that spawned a second season last year), the new Facebook Watch series doesn’t sweat redundancies and, through two episodes, sprints headfirst into a faithful retelling. Original creators Zach Akers and Skip Bronkie are on board as writers and executive producers — with TV vet Josh Appelbaum showrunning — and the transition from an audible-only story to one with added visual components goes rather smoothly. While there’s still a prevalent, somewhat subverting, reliance on sound, the contributions of a commanding lead like Jessica Biel and outstanding support from Stanley Tucci help this version of “Limetown” feel as engrossing and necessary as the first.

And for newcomers, you’re all set. The conspiracy-thriller is smartly constructed; quickly snatching attention with a spooky intro, just as

Shauna Duggins (‘Glow’) on stunts being ‘a crucial part of every story’ [Exclusive Video Interview]
Stunt coordinator Shauna Duggins won her first Emmy last year for “Glow,” making her the first woman to do so. She is now nominated again for Season 2 of the Netflix comedy, which featured major moments like Debbie (Betty Gilpin) breaking Ruth’s (Alison Brie) ankle, the over-the-top “Good Twin” episode and the epic battle royale in the finale. Through it all, Duggins is training actresses who don’t have much stunt experience into genuine stunt performers. “I know what the girls put into training every year to get to the point to shoot on them. To be recognized for that is an honor,” Duggins says. Watch our exclusive video interview with Duggins above.

Henry Golding in Talks to Star in the Upcoming G.I. Joe Film Snake Eyes

Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding is talks to star in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming G.I. Joe film Snake Eyes. If cast, he will take on the title role of the film, which I’d be fine with. I like him as an actor.

The studio is working with Hasbro on trying to relaunch the G.I. Joe franchise ,and I really hope that they are able to pull it off this time and deliver a great G.I. Joe film! The upcoming Snake Eyes film is being directed by Robert Schwentke from a script written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who wrote Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

Snake Eyes is known for his all-black ninja style, and he doesn't speak. Here's a little background on the character:

A New G.I. Joe Film is in Development That Will Feature Chuckles

I’ve been saying all along that the future G.I. Joe films should put a focus on building up certain characters in a cinematic universe instead of throwing them all into one movie. It looks like Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are on the path to doing just that!

They’ve already announced a Snake Eyes movie, and now it’s being reported that they are also developing another G.I. Joe film that will include the character Chuckles, who has not been introduced in any of the films. I love this!

The film is being written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Alias, Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and the film is described as an ensemble piece. Chuckles won’t be the main character, but as the film development progresses that could change. There’s no word on who the other character will be.

Chuckles was a great character and here is
