Among the most successful of criminals
1 October 2017 | by deickemeyerSee all my reviews

Max Linder appears in this play as a daring bandit, and, to judge from his exploits, he must be counted among the most successful of (stage) criminals. With the aid of two others, he elopes with a fair damsel, and baffles the police at every turn. He enters the private room of the commissioner of police, and, being overpowered, is forced into a large chest, from which the commissioner emerges victorious, and orders the chest and the man inside to be closely secured. Whilst his sub- ordinates are carrying out his orders he removes his wig and discloses the features of the daring Max, who calmly turns the key of the cell on the bewildered police and the real commissioner inside the chest. Max goes through several more scenes of an equally exciting and amusing nature, from which he at last comes to the delights of love-making, in which, needless to say, he is adept. - The Bioscope, Apr. 28, 1910
