Sex & Nudity

  • Contains objectifying depictions of women in various states of undress, including victims, some of whom are depicted nude (with their private parts strategically obscured by vines, or by being depicted from a side profile etc.).
  • The player can also explore locations such as the "Red Light District", and a pornography store, with limited depiction of video and magazine covers. Cinemas sometimes contain suggestive movie posters, and monitors or projectors may occasionally display sexualised imagery.
  • Exotic dancers appear occasionally, and the player can offer them money whilst making remarks such as "Shake it, baby", and "Do you want to dance?" Some women will expose their bare breasts to the player if the player interacts with them.

Violence & Gore

  • Contains strong violence throughout, including weapon/projectile-based and hand-to-hand combat.
  • Blood spray is frequent, and monsters' guts will splatter if killed with more powerful weapons. Some monsters may whimper while on the verge of death, before succumbing to it. Also contains stronger instances of violence, such as decapitations, or a monster's head being kicked like a football etc.
  • Due to the age of the game, the violence is quite unrealistic when compared to the blockbuster games of today.

Profanity

  • Contains some instances of mild coarse language, such as "son of a bitch" and "Shit", and milder terms such as "bastard", and "badass". Words like "Fuck" are bleeped.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The player can find steroids, which when used, greatly increase Duke's speed and the power of his kicks, with no negative effects.
  • Contains somewhat glamorised depictions of tobacco and alcohol consumption. The ill consequences of their consumption is not depicted in detail.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Current ESRB rating: rated M for Animated Blood and Gore, Animated Violence, Strong Sexual Content
  • My suggested ESRB rating: rated M for Animated Blood and Gore, Violence, Sexual Content, Mature Humour, Use of Drugs, Strong Language, Partial Nudity
  • The octabrain can be very scary both in design and in the sounds it makes for some players.
  • Moments of threat and strong violence may distress or frighten some viewers.
