Apart from Miss Babs (Celia Imrie) and Mrs. Overall (Dame Julie Walters) the only other two people to appear in every episode were the extras, the antiques shop customers played by Albert Welch and Michaela Welch.

Characters were often alluded to, but never seen. These included Miss Babs' (Celia Imrie's) husband Mr. Kenneth. Miss Babs' triplets. Trixie's (Rosie Collins') fiancé Bobby, and the family doctor Dr. Wimley.
