Ronny Waterschoot, who played the soap's most notorious villain Didier De Kunst, asked the producers to get rid of his character, because he thought it had become too unrealistic for Didier escape justice time after time.
Jacky Lafon has been criticized by some fellow actors for lacking professionalism. In interviews, she named Ronny Waterschoot, who also served as director for some years, to have been a real tyrant towards her. More recently, Anne Somers urged the producers to fire Lafon, which eventually led to Somers being dismissed herself.
In 2006 the big Familie party, also known as the familyday, took place in the Wijnegem Shopping Centre. Around 80000 loyal fans could come and witness this day. They got to meet their favorite actors in real life.

Not only did they not propose to her first, they also never left her a message to let her know this would be happening.
In the 2010-2011 season finale, Erik Goris' character Rob got killed off inside a building that was on fire. Right afterwards, the actor landed a recurring part on the competing soap series Thuis (1995). He debuted in its 2011-2012 season premiere... playing a firefighter on duty.
In 2001, Vicky Versavel was diagnosed with cancer and left the show immediately to have treatment. Because her character Brenda had an important story-line at the time, Chadia Cambie took over the part for a couple of months. After getting better, Versavel returned. A similar thing happened in 2017: when Roel Vanderstukken had a cardiac arrest, Govert Deploige joined the series to play Benny up until Vanderstukken's recovery.
Ben Rottiers' character Ben was a school teacher that eventually left to go do development aid in Africa. A couple of months later, Rottiers debuted as a main character in the long-running sitcom F.C. De Kampioenen (1990)... being another school teacher that had just returned from doing development aid in Africa.
