a documentary made by the Royal Air Force put audiences in the cockpit of a bomber called "F for Freddie" as it set off on a bombing raid over Germany. Made in Britain by the Crown Film Unit with a cast comprised entirely of R.A.F personnel.

Flying Officer Charles Pickard, the unflappable pilot who smokes a pipe was killed with his Navigator (who does not appear in this film), in the famous Mosquito raid on Amiens Prison later in the war, by which time he had been promoted to Wing-Commander rank. The Second Pilot was played by Gordon Woollatt (who survived the war). See more
When F for Freddie is approaching the target the bomber is alternately shown both above a solid cloud deck where the ground cannot be seen and then below the clouds showing the landscape and canals. See more
