In the Jacobite Rising of 1745, the Young Pretender Bonnie Prince Charlie leads an insurrection to overthrow the Protestant House of Hanover and restore his family, the Catholic branch of the House of Stuart, to the British throne.
The budget was partially raised by encouraging 374 people to put up £1,000 as an investment. As an incentive, they were guaranteed their names on the credits and also the chance to appear in the film as extras. See more »

This is a film for those of us who take a lot of interest in world history particularly in the politics that transpired between England and her surrounding islands. The battle scenes do not come close to the ones in such flicks like "Braveheart", but beyond that the whole production shows the power of the human spirit(the Wallace clan) in challenging the might of the oppressors(the English)
