Trivia

William Friedkin's decision to cast basketball players, such as Shaquille O'Neal and Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway as the basketball players, was rooted in the director's sentiment that actors make for unconvincing athletes in most sports films. See more »

Quotes

Pete Bell: You know, some place in America right now, there's some 10-year-old kid. He's out there on that playground, and he's playing, he's dribbling between his legs, he's going left, he's going right, he's already above the rim, and he's stuffing it home. another underrated movie, a great film
16 October 2000 | by apursansarSee all my reviews

This movie is very underrated, it hasn't gotten nearly the credit it deserves. I thought it was very well done, although it wasn't perfect, it was still very good. It is the first movie to talk about a problem that is very prominent in todays colleges and their methods of recruiting. The film is very well written and Nick Nolte does a great, great job playing the conflicted coach.
