Amour fou
15 September 2018 | by shakercoolaSee all my reviews

The film is a pessimistic romance about a troubled, but brilliant 17-year-old who plays truant from college in Saint Etinenne, France. She becomes passionately involved with a 50-year-old married philosophy teacher played the 59 year old Bruno Crémer. Crémer provides the film's backbone, bringing intelligence and feeling to the role of a man who lets himself get into an impossible situation because of an irresistible passion and a spurned girl who is driven by jealousy and revenge. Vanessa Paradis brings sincerity, other worldliness as well as coquettish charm and petulence to her part, earning her a César Award for most promising actress. There is also a delicate performance from Ludmila Mikaël as the suffering wife, earned her a best supporting actress nomination.
