Storyline

Another of the shows that pioneered the "infotainment" genre, blurring the boundaries between news programming and scripted entertainment. Host Maury Povich presented viewers with news segments primarily focused on sex scandals, drugs, religious cults, and whatever else was considered to be the terror of the day. Little research or follow-up was done, and the main goal was to keep audiences titilated. Written by Jean-Marc Rocher <rocher@fiberbit.net>

Good news magazine show
11 July 2007 | by Catherine_Grace_ZehSee all my reviews

"A CURRENT AFFAIR," in my opinion, is a good news magazine show. I enjoyed seeing Maureen O'Boyle as the main anchor. There are many reasons why I said that. Also, I had no idea that Maury Povich was a reporter anchor on this show before his present work on his hit daytime talk show. If you ask me, it seems that nobody stays with a TV show throughout its entire run anymore. Still, I enjoyed hearing about what's happening in the world. The only thing I didn't like hearing about was when someone had been murdered or gone missing. Now, in conclusion, if some network ever bring this show back, I highly recommend it to all you die-hard news magazine fans. You will really enjoy it.
