Storyline

Tom's just settling in to listen to the radio after another round of chasing Jerry when there's a news bulletin. A lion has escaped from the circus. Tom takes all precautions, including arming himself. Meanwhile, the lion is already hiding in the basement, where he tells Jerry he couldn't take it in the circus any more and wants his help getting back to Africa. Oh, and could you find some food? If there's one thing Jerry excels at, that's it. He sneaks a ham most of the way across the floor to the lion, but Tom spots him and takes the ham, holding Jerry at gunpoint. The lion is able to eat most of the ham while Tom does this, which flusters him so much he fires into the ceiling. Jerry pretends to die, which gives him a chance to sneak the lion out of the house and into a boat headed to Africa; he waves a tearful adieu. Written by Jon Reeves <jreeves@imdb.com>

Odd Lion, Odd Cartoon
26 January 2007 | by ccthemovieman-1See all my reviews

Tom hears on the radio that a lion has escaped! Everyone is urged to lock their doors, close their windows and be on the alert! Jerry overhears the announcement while at his mouse- hole in the wall. Both of them are petrified and Tom runs around the house shutting all the windows.

The next thing you know, the lion appears in the basement. Jerry spots him first, almost has a heart attack but the lion tells him he just wants food. This is not a ferocious lion; actually a nice guy who just wants to feed his stomach.

The rest of the story deals with what happens in the house. Most of it is the lion swatting Tom, but Tom thinking it's Jerry doing all the damage (because he never sees the lion). He can't believe it. In the end, he's terrified of Jerry!

Jerry helps the lion get back on a boat and they tearfully wave goodbye. Overall, it was a strange lion and a strange cartoon.
