‘What/If’ Renee Zellweger gets 2 Golden Globe nominations for the price of 1
After years away from the spotlight Renee Zellweger made a comeback this fall with her performance as Judy Garland in the biopic “Judy,” but her comeback actually started several months earlier with her starring role in the Netflix limited series “What/If.” We already know she’s a Golden Globes front-runner for “Judy” (and the Oscars front-runner too), but could she get a surprise second Globe nom for her role on the streaming series?

What/If” isn’t the kind of program you’d typically think of as awards bait. It’s a provocative thriller from Mike Kelley, who previously created the similarly sexy primetime soap “Revenge.” But the Globes often love a juicy soap. They awarded Best TV Drama Series to twisty relationship dramas like “Nip/Tuck” (2005), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2007) and “The Affair” (2015), and they gave Best TV Comedy Series to “Desperate Housewives” (2005-2006) and “Ugly Betty” (2007). “Revenge” also earned a 2012 Globe nomination for scene-stealing villainess Madeleine Stowe.
