Joan Lorring, Oscar-Nominated ‘The Corn Is Green’ Actress, Dead at 88
Joan Lorring, who was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category for the 1945 film “The Corn Is Green,” died Friday at age 88, the Associated Press reports. Born in Hong Kong, Lorring left for the United States with her mother in 1939 to avoid the impending Japanese invasion, landing in San Francisco.
