Act of Valor Director Confirmed for Need for Speed Movie

A couple of months ago we reported that EA was in the process of setting up a movie based on their popular Need for Speed video game franchise, and that several studios were circling the project. We now have an update on that front and it looks like things are shifting into high gear. According to THR, DreamWorks has landed the screen rights to the franchise, which is a little bit surprising considering that they weren't even mentioned as a contender in the original article. However, it makes a little bit of sense because DreamWorks previously worked with screenwriter John Gatins on Real Steel and his directorial debut Dreamer. They have also hired Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) to direct.
