Sai Dhansika, who played an assassin and Rajinikanth's daughter in Kabali, is winning hearts on social media after she posted a video of her practising Silambattam like a boss.

Rs.4.86 crore opening weekend for 'Paradesi' in Tamil Nadu
Chennai, March 20: Critically acclaimed Tamil period-drama "Paradesi" raked in Rs.4.86 crore in its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu.

"The Rs.40 crore budget film collected approximately Rs.4.86 crore in its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu," trade analyst Trinath told Ians.

Directed by Bala Pazhanisaamy, "Paradesi" is based on the novel "Red Tea". It narrates the sufferings of tea plantation workers of pre-independent India.

The film features Atharva Murali, Vedhika Kumar and Dhansika in the lead roles. It released all over March 15.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap bought the distribution rights and released the film in north.

Anurag Kashyap lauds Tamil film 'Paradesi'
Chennai, Feb 8: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said he was "absolutely blown" by Tamil period-drama "Paradesi", which he watched at a private screening.

"Just saw Bala's 'Paradesi'. Absolutely blown by it. His best yet," tweeted Kashyap, known for his offbeat Hindi films.

"Paradesi", based on English novel "Red Tea" by Paul Harris Daniel, is directed by Bala Pazhanisaamy.

Set in pre-independent India, the movie narrates the problems of tea plantation workers in southern India. It stars Adharvaa Murali, Vedhika Kumar, Dhansika and Uma Riyaz Khan.
