If you loved the flashy hooks and updated story in Disney's 2019 reboot of Aladdin, you're in luck! Fans can catch the film on Digital on Aug. 27 and Blu-ray on Sept. 10, and for those who really enjoyed the live-action production, we have an exclusive peek behind-the-scenes of one of the movie's most magical numbers, "A Whole New World." Surprisingly, no magical carpets were actually used for the number.

In our exclusive video, actors Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud reveal that the actual making of the scene wasn't as simple as nabbing a sentient rug from a crumbling cave of wonders. (Wouldn't it be nice if it worked out that way?) To re-create the iconic musical scene, the two mounted a rig in front of a blue screen that slowly moves to replicate the motion of a magic carpet. If 15-feet-tall rigs and strapping folks into harnesses are what it takes

Aladdin producer reveals why Guy Ritchie was chosen to direct

Aladdin producer Dan Lin has explained why Guy Ritchie was chosen to direct the Disney movie.

Guy Ritchie, a man known for his dark, gritty, and violent action movies, isn’t the first name that comes to mind to direct a Disney movie like Aladdin. But for this year’s live-action remake of the classic film, he was the man to get the job.

Why was this decision made? Well, producer Dan Lin explained it all to ComicBook.com: “I had known him very well from the previous two movies and what I discovered was that his kids loved the Aladdin original animated movie, as did his wife. And they loved the animated movie and they loved the Broadway musical. And that’s why I sent it to him because he was at the stage of his career which I was at many years ago, where I wanted to make movies for my kids.

Disney’s Aladdin producer explains what Will Smith brought to the role of Genie

The producer on Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, Dan Lin, was impressed by Will Smith’s interpretation of the Genie and how it differentiates from Robin Williams’ iconic performance in the animated film.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Lin spoke about the casting of Smith, and he couldn’t have been more pleased with the performance.

“I mean, we’re just so fortunate we got Will,” Lin said. “And it’s a role that is so complex because it requires singing and dancing, high expectations, it requires comedy, it requires drama. It really requires kind of the full skill set of an actor, and he pulled it off. And how he did that was he made it really personal. I think that’s the number one overarching theme that everyone brought the movie. They they made this movie by bringing their personality to it.

“And so Will Smith,

Disney considering a sequel to Aladdin

Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, directed by Guy Ritchie, blew past the billion dollar mark this summer despite not being as positively reviewed as the original, therefore it will come as a surprise to no-one that the studio is currently exploring a sequel to the movie. Although there is nothing officially in the works right now, producer Dan Lin told ComicBook.com that talks have taken place for this potential route:

“We have now,” says Lin. “We certainly when we first made the movie wanted to just make the best movie we could and let audiences tell us if they wanted to see more. And I would say resoundingly audiences want to see more. They’ve watched this movie multiple times. We have lots of fan letters about people who really go back and they bring their friends and bring their family. And so we feel like there’s more story to tell.

Margaret Qualley & Nick Robinson in Trailer for 'Strange But True' Film

"There's more answers than those you can see." Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for an odd indie dramatic thriller titled Strange But True, based on John Searles' book of the same name. This domestic suspense-thriller stars quite an impressive cast, lead by Margaret Qualley (the talk of the town thanks to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) plus Nick Robinson, along with Amy Ryan, Greg Kinnear, Blythe Danner, Brian Cox, Connor Jessup, and Mena Massoud. The plot is about a young woman who surprises the family of her deceased boyfriend by telling them she's pregnant with his child years later. She also reconnects with her boyfriend's brother, who might still have feelings for her. The first half of this trailer it seems like oh, this looks like a good drama, why haven't we heard more about this? But by the end it gets totally nuts, deep into "sinister" Wtf is going on territory.

Disney’s Aladdin hits the $1 billion mark at the global box office

Disney is celebrating another milestone in what is proving to be an enormously successful year for the studio, with the live-action Aladdin adaptation passing the $1 billion dollar mark at the global box office.

Given the initial backlash towards the film early in its marketing campaign, and mixed reviews (at best) from critics, Aladdin has certainly defied expectations and demonstrated some impressive legs, particularly internationally.

The film is the third Disney-produced movie to hit a billion this year after Marvel StudiosCaptain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame – the latter of which has also broken Avatar’s near-ten year record as the highest-grossing release of all time.

The Guy Ritchie-directed fantasy becomes the third of Disney’s animated reimaginings to reach the $1 billion threshold alongside Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland. They will likely soon be joined by The Lion King, which has already amassed $728.7 million since its opening this month.

Aladdin Rides the Magic Carpet Past $1 Billion at the Box Office

Aladdin has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. This is an accomplishment that is far more frequent than it used to be even a handful of years ago, but it's still no small matter. Especially in a summer movie season that has seen so many movies crash and burn. Yet, Disney simply cannot be stopped and this is just another example of the Mouse House defying expectations and delivering an audience-pleasing hit.

Just ahead of the upcoming weekend at the box office, director Guy Ritchie's Aladdin remake managed to cross the ever-important $1 billion mark. That includes a $343 million domestic haul, which started with $116 million on its opening weekend over Memorial Day back in May. And what's more amazing is that the movie isn't done just yet. While it's certainly made the lion's share of its earnings, there is still a little gas left in the tank for Genie,

  • Deadline
Created by Josh Corbin and executive produced by The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Warren Littlefield, Hulu’s Reprisal follows Doris, a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads. The hyper-noir drama, like many series as of late, blurs the lines of good and evil — but Reprisal takes that on from a different angle.

Corbin and Littlefield were joined on the TCA stage Friday by series stars Abigail Spencer, Mena Massoud, Rhys Wakefield and Rodrigo Santoro to talk about how Hulu’s new series tackles the age-old debate of what’s right and what’s wrong.

“I think the difference between good and evil is a blurred line,” said Corbin, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. “I want the audience to ask themselves, ‘I don’t know how I feel about that’.”

Massoud, who plays Ethan on the show,
