If You Haven't Yet Watched The Perfection on Netflix, You Might Want to Read These Spoilers First

Warning: Massive spoilers for The Perfection ahead!

Netflix's latest thriller has taken audiences by surprise. The Perfection, a violent and shocking revenge thriller, combines body horror with a psychological revenge scheme to produce a deeply disturbing horror movie. And we're not exaggerating: it's disturbing, shocking, and completely bonkers. We're breaking down the details of the movie - and all its creepy twists.

Directed and cowritten by Richard Shepard (with cowriters Nicole Snyder and Eric C. Charmelo), The Perfection stars Allison Williams as Charlotte, a cellist who was once a rising star at an elite academy who gave up her career for a decade to care for her dying mother. At first, the movie seems like a pretty standard-issue psychological thriller in the vein of something like Black Swan. After her mother's death, Charlotte decides to attempt to resume her career. She reconnects with her former instructor, Anton, and meets

Stx Shows Off Chadwick Boseman-Starrer ’21 Bridges’, Dave Bautista’s ‘My Spy’ & More – CineEurope

  • Deadline
STXinternational today made its second-ever appearance on stage at CineEurope, repped by John Friedberg and Llewellyn Radley who were respectively promoted to President of International and Managing Director, UK & Evp International earlier this year. The pair presented a roster of upcoming titles that includes Chadwick Boseman-starrer 21 Bridges, horror thriller Countdown, the Jennifer Lopez-fronted Hustlers and Dave Bautista action comedy My Spy.

The latter got the most extensive look-in with a video introduction from Bautista who winked that the movie has it all, including an “immensely sexy, super-buff and undeniably charismatic lead.” In April, Bautista had told CinemaCon attendees this was the first time he was “fully hands on as a producer.” The Peter Segal-helmed pic, which also stars Kristen Schaal and Big Little Lies‘ Chloe Coleman, follows a hardened CIA operative who has been sent to surveil the family of a precocious 9-year-old girl. Several scenes were

‘The Perfection’ Review (Netflix)

  • Nerdly
Stars: Allison Williams, Logan Browning, Alaina Huffman, Steven Weber, Molly Grace, Graeme Duffy, Mark Kandborg, Winnie Hung, Glynis Davies, Eileen Tian, Christina Jastrzembska | Written by Eric C. Charmelo, Richard Shepard, Nicole Snyder | Directed by Richard Shepard

The Perfection is directed by Richard Shepard and stars Allison Williams and Logan Browning as Charlotte and Lizzie, two classic musically trained prodigies who – on a chance meeting at a musical exhibition held by the benefactors of each girl, both of whom are showing off their latest star pupil – become entangled in each other’s talent. Together they slowly bond with deadly morally ambiguous intent.

Richard Shepard’s film is a thrilling haunting blast from its eerie start to its diabolically horrid and splendid climax. Splitting itself into chapters – in a similar style implemented by Tarantino in his filmography – and structuring itself into a series of five individual parts with aptly provided titles. The

The Perfection Movie Review

The Perfection is a horror film that could have been so much more than what it eventually turns into: a grisly nauseating amputation and mutilation binge, all tied together by the music of the cello that finally seems ironically incongruous to the progressively perverse tone of the narrative.

At first it isn't so. Two young beautiful classical musicians meet and fall in love in bustling Shanghai. It is when they take off on a bus trip through rural China that all hell breaks loose. Lizzie (Logan Browning) falls violently ill.

Her growing panic is marvellously recorded in the responses of other bus passengers -- from kind to frightened to cruel -- as well as her lover and travelling companion Charlotte (Allison Williams) who seems at first panicked and then strangely smug.

So far it isn't difficult to guess what's going on.

Envy in the world of western classical music dates to Mozart and Salieri.

The Perfection: Netflix's Gory New Horror Film Has Audiences Gagging
Have you seen The Perfection yet? Because if you still have it languishing on your Netflix queue, I suggest dropping whatever it is you're doing to go watch it. Richard Shepard's horror film is filled with B-movie thrills and chills, elevated acting, and deeply unexpected twists . . . oh, and some extended scenes of one of its heroines violently throwing up gooey bugs and releasing her bowels all over a bus. So yeah - it's a lot.

Allison Williams (Get Out) and Logan Browning (Dear White People) star as two cellist prodigies whose seemingly random encounter sends both musicians down a deeply twisted path that has gruesome consequences. The horror flick has Netflix users all over the world freaking the f*ck out, to put it lightly, with reactions ranging from claims that the movie made them physically sick to those who can't believe it's not getting more critical praise. The Perfection Review: Sex, Shocks and Savagery on Netflix

Lou Thomas May 31, 2019

Netflix's latest original movie is a brutal, wince-inducing horror that follows in Jordan Peele's footsteps.

It didn’t take long for the arrival of the first post-Peele horror smash. The influence of the American director looms large over The Perfection, with Richard Shepard’s brutal puzzler arriving with a murderous glint in its eye and a bloody knife clamped in its fist.

When former cello prodigy Charlotte’s (Allison Williams) mother dies after a long illness, she heads to Shanghai to meet Anton (Steven Weber), the head of her alma mater, the Bachoff Academy of Music. Anton and his wife Paloma (Alaina Huffman) console Charlotte and ask her to help judge potential new students with Lizzie (Logan Browning), Charlotte’s replacement at Bachoff.

After the pair watch a frisson-filled student audition performance, they go clubbing and have sex. During the hungover morning after, Charlotte agrees

The Perfection's Logan Browning on Why Her Wild New Horror Film Made Her Feel "Like a Superhero"

The Perfection's Logan Browning on Why Her Wild New Horror Film Made Her Feel
After you've seen enough horror films, you get to the point where you can start guessing exactly what's going to happen fairly easily, mapping out jump scares long before a violently loud burst of strings attempts to shock you out of your seat. But Richard Shepard's The Perfection is an anomaly of modern day horror, filled with B-movie thrills and chills as well as elevated acting and deeply unexpected twists.

It's bizarre and batsh*t crazy, while also being wildly entertaining, depending on your stamina for gore. But at it's core, once you rinse off all the blood and bugs, is a striking story about two women bonded by their scars - both physical and emotional - and how they're able to begin the healing process only after they've gone through hell and back together.

The two characters in question are played by Allison Williams (Get Out) and Logan Browning

Whoa - Allison Williams and Logan Browning Actually Learned to Play the Cello For The Perfection

Whoa - Allison Williams and Logan Browning Actually Learned to Play the Cello For The Perfection
Now that Richard Shepard's batsh*t crazy new horror film, The Perfection, is streaming on Netflix, you might have a few questions. Like, first and foremost: what the actual f*ck?! (At least that was my reaction after watching.) And perhaps second: have Allison Williams and Logan Browning secretly been wildly talented cellists all this time? Because the scenes of their musical performances are pretty convincing, to say the least.

Although you likely won't see either of the film's stars challenging Yo-Yo Ma to a riff-off anytime soon, the pair actually did learn how to play the cello for their roles. If you haven't seen the film, Williams plays Charlotte, a troubled musical prodigy who seeks out Elizabeth (Browning), the star cellist of the music conservatory she once attended years earlier. Their encounter sends both musicians down a deeply twisted path of love, violence, and revenge, climaxing with a truly insane ending.

‘Patrick Melrose’ Season 2 in ‘the Exploratory Phase’ at Showtime

‘Patrick Melrose’ Season 2 in ‘the Exploratory Phase’ at Showtime
Showtime’s limited series “Patrick Melrose” may not be so limited anymore. The network is in early discussions to bring the Benedict Cumberbatch-led series back for a second season.

“It is very early in the exploratory phase, but Showtime would love the opportunity to work with Benedict, Edward, David, Teddy and the series’ producers again,” a Showtime spokesperson told TheWrap.

Based on the Patrick Melrose series of semi-autobiographical novels written by Edward St. Aubyn, “Patrick Melrose” is an acerbic and fearless look at the protagonist’s harrowing odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood to his remarkable survival as an adult, per Showtime’s description.

Each episode was devoted to one of St. Aubyn’s five novels, so a second season would not be based on any prior source material.

Cumberbatch, who also executive produces the miniseries, plays

‘Patrick Melrose’: Creative Team In Talks To Bring Back Limited Series For Second Season
Exclusive: The creative team behind Patrick Melrose, the BAFTA-winning Benedict Cumberbatch-fronted drama, are in active discussions about bringing the limited series back for more episodes.

Patrick Melrose was originally set up as a five-episode order with each episode of the show based on one of Edward St Aubyn’s novels. Although all of the novels were used for the David Nicholls-penned adaptation, Deadline understands that Cumberbatch and the producers are looking at ways to carry on the story.

The series, which was directed by Edward Berger and produced by Michael Jackson’s Two Cities Television, Little Island Productions and Cumberbatch’s SunnyMarch, aired on Showtime in the U.S. and Sky Atlantic in the UK in May 2018. Rachael Horovitz and Michael Jackson are lead exec producers alongside Cumberbatch, Adam Ackland and Helen Flint.

Horovitz and Jackson said, “Our collective passion for Teddy’s novels and the joyful experience

‘The Perfection’: Allison Williams and Logan Browning Sound Off on That Graphic Final Twist

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for the Netflix original movie “The Perfection.”]

Netflix has landed another word-of-mouth hit thanks to writer-director Richard Shepard’s horror-thriller “The Perfection,” starring Allison Williams opposite “Dear White People” breakout Logan Browning. Williams stars as a troubled music prodigy who befriends Browning’s rising cellist for mysterious reasons. “The Perfection” ends with the two women teaming up to take down Steven Weber’s Anton, a world-renowned music teacher who is revealed to be a rapist. Anton sexually assaults his most gifted students, including Williams and Browning’s characters. The duo decide not to kill Anton but get revenge by amputating his legs and arms, sowing his mouth shut, and forcing him to listen to his students’ music for the rest of his life.

“Given how powerless they felt on that stage for so many years, to be back up there and take that power back while taking all of Anton’s away
