Coronavirus scare: Ranveer Singh starrer '83' gets postponed
The much-anticipated release of actor Ranveer Singh's upcoming film "83" has been put on hold due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

The film was earlier slated to hit the screens on April 10.

Ranveer, who will be seen playing the role of former cricket captain Kapil Dev in the film, took to Instagram, where he shared a post.

It read: "In the wake of the risks posed by the recent outbreak of Covid-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will take a decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal.

"We urge fans to take all the necessary precautions and take care of their loved ones. '83' is a film about fighting the odds and we hope we will bounce back from this soon.

Actors Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin will be teaming up for the Hindi adaptation of German film "Run Lola Run".

The 1998 Tom Tykwer directorial was about two star-crossed lovers who find themselves left with a few minutes to change their lives forever.

The Hindi version titled "Looop Lapeta" will be helmed by Aakash Bhatia, who will make his directorial debut with the movie.

‘Run Lola Run’ Set for Bollywood Remake Through Sony and Ellipsis
Sony Pictures Films India, Ellipsis Entertainment and Aayush Maheshwari (“Baji” and “Ugly”) will co-produce “Looop Lapeta,” an official Bollywood remake of Tom Tykwer’s 1998 German film “Run Lola Run.”

In the original, Franka Potente is in a race against time, having just 20 minutes to get a large sum of money in order to save her boyfriend Moritz Moritz Bleibtreu’s life. The film won the audience award at Sundance, won seven prizes at the German Film Awards, scored a BAFTA nomination, and was Germany’s entry for the Oscars.

Taapsee Pannu, who starred in “Badla,” the hit 2019 Bollywood remake of 2016 Spanish film “The Invisible Guest,” will play the role originally played by Potente. Tahir Raj Bhasin (“Manto”) will reprise Bleibtreu’s role.

Aakash Bhatia (Amazon Prime Video series “Inside Edge”) will direct from a script by Vinay Chhawal (“Angrezi Medium”) and Ketan Pedgaonkar. Principal photography starts in April and the film has booked a Jan.

Sony Pictures Films India and Indian production house Ellipsis Entertainment are set to produce a Hindi-language remake of Tom Tykwer’s 1998 high-concept hit, Run Lola Run.

Indian actress Taapsee Pannu, renowned for roles in films such as Pink and Bull’s Eye, will head the cast, along with Tahir Raj Bhasin (Mardaani). Aayush Maheshwari, who first approached Ellipsis with the remake rights, will also produce.

Produced by Germany’s X-Filme Creative Pool, the original Run Lola Run starred Franka Potente as a woman who has 20 minutes to save her boyfriend’s life.

The onset of the digital age has opened up new floodgates for content to reach audiences, who now, thanks to streaming platforms, have access to many smaller independently made films which get lost among the big brother releases on the big screen, many of these smaller films boasting of stellar filmmaking and compelling storylines.
