Movie Review – Robert the Bruce (2019)

Robert the Bruce, 2019.

Directed by Richard Gray.

Starring Angus Macfadyen, Anna Hutchison, Zach McGowan, Brandon Lessard, Talitha Bateman, Gabriel Bateman, Daniel Porter and Jared Harris.

Synopsis:

Wandering the wilderness as an outlaw, Robert the Bruce bonds with a peasant family, who inspire him to continue his fight against the English.

There hasn’t exactly been a clamour for a sequel to Braveheart. It’s fair to say its reputation has soured since it romped to victory at the Oscars back in 1996, scoring five gongs including Best Picture and Best Director for Mel Gibson. It’s now largely deemed an entertaining historical epic, but one lacking in any sort of historical care and attention. Robert the Bruce isn’t quite a sequel in the traditional sense, taking place in between William Wallace’s execution and the Scottish victory at Bannockburn. It’s a more methodical, thoughtful period piece that has merit

L.A.'s Finest Review: Fun but Not a Sure-fire Lure for New Customers

Pilots only have a couple of jobs to do, and when they're not done or done poorly, a new series can lose its audience quickly.

In the case of the new Spectrum Originals series L.A.'s Finest, starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, the pilot was barely functional.

Because I wanted to get some notes down, I stuck around until the bitter end despite my better judgment, and that's just when things got interesting. So, there is a plus side.

Union and Alba starring together in an offshoot of Bad Boys II sounds, at first, like a no-brainer. But the pilot doesn't establish them as partners nearly as well as it should have.

Oh sure, Syd and Nancy have the names that make them an immediate pair, but the dialogue between them is almost too witty. Their jabs and barbs don't sound natural, and it's not altogether easy to believe them as partners.

"...'Burnett' (Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, has left her complicated past behind to become an 'Lapd' detective.

"Paired with 'Nancy McKenna' (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past, Burnett is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret.

"These two women don’t agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles..."

The 100 Season 6: Everything We Learned From Conageddon 2019!

Earlier this month, The 100 fandom came together in Boston for Conageddon 2019 to celebrate the upcoming season of the show and to enjoy the convention that promotes an intimate fan experience each year.

Conageddon is a convention that was created by Bob Morley, Eliza Taylor, Zach McGowan, Mike Gillespie, and Thomas Leath that focuses on bringing The 100 actors to the Us more prominently.

It was with their hard work and with the valuable assistance from lovely volunteers throughout the weekend that made Conageddon as memorable as it is.

Having the actors involved in the creation was a great asset too, allowing for two parties for the fans that had the cast in attendance which helped create some great memories along the way.

There was also the addition of a live stream for several panels, giving fans that couldn't go the chance to see what was happening. This approach helped remove some

Looks like we are getting a new historical action drama based on the Scottish warrior Robert The Bruce. The film is called Robert The Bruce and stars Angus Macfadyen, who reprises his role from Mel Gibson’s classic movie Braveheart.

Chris Pine recently took on the role in the Netflix film Outlaw King, which was pretty good. This new film “explores the lost months during a long, harsh winter when Robert, injured and pursued across the Highlands by his enemies, takes shelter with the steely Morag and her fearless children. Restored to health and spurred on by this humble family’s resilience and courage, Bruce finally finds the resolve to rally his people and lead his country to hard-fought independence.”

I love that after all these years Macfadyen is playing this character again and this is what he had to say in a statement:

“Robert the Bruce rose from the
