Tom Holland’s ‘Uncharted’ Movie Loses Yet Another Director as Dan Trachtenberg Exits

It has been a tough week for Tom Holland and Sony Pictures, as Collider has confirmed that Dan Trachtenberg is the latest director to pull out of the Uncharted movie, which he signed on to direct back in January. Deadline reports that Sony is already closing in on a replacement and that Holland remains attached to star despite all the Spider-Man drama that has unfolded over the past 48 hours. The report didn't include any names, but it wouldn't shock me to see Sony turn to either Travis Knight or Rupert Wyatt, both of whom were finalists …

“Tom is very involved with the writing with Kelly Marcel of the new story, so it’s very much centred around their take.”

None of it took very long, either. Last week it was reported that Serkis, Travis Knight (“Bumblebee”) and Rupert Wyatt (“Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes”) were all in the mix to direct the “Venom” sequel, but it was clear, even if Serkis downplayed the meetings, that “The Lord Of The Rings” actor-turned-filmmaker was the frontrunner.

Andy Serkis Officially Set To Direct Venom 2

Andy Serkis is officially set to direct Venom 2 for Sony Pictures and I wish the studio would’ve picked a better filmmaker. I wasn’t a fan of his Jungle Book Netflix film Mowgli. I know some people liked it, and that’s cool, I just thought it was a disappointing and poorly-made film.

Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and Rupert Wyatt (The Rise of the Planet of the Apes) were also in the running and either one of them would have been a far superior choice! There are also a ton of other directors that are more talented that the studio could have gone with before they settled on Serkis.

I thought the first Venom film directed by Ruben Fleischer was decent. It had some entertaining moments. I was hoping the sequel would get a great filmmaker that would tell a better story with the character, but I’m not expecting much from Serkis.

Andy Serkis to Direct ‘Venom 2’

Andy Serkis is no stranger to comic book movies having previously played the delightful Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther. Now he’ll step behind the camera for one as THR reports that Serkis has signed on to direct Venom 2. We previously reported that Serkis, Travis Knight (Bumblebee), and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) were in the running for the gig, but it looks like Serkis won the job. This will be Serkis’ third feature following Breathe and Mowgli. I think Serkis is a solid choice for the gig, and it’…

Andy Serkis to Direct ‘Venom’ Sequel

Andy Serkis to Direct ‘Venom’ Sequel
Andy Serkis is set to direct Sony’s “Venom 2,” a sequel to last year’s superhero box office smash starring Tom Hardy.

Serkis was among a handful of filmmakers that met earlier this month, a group that included “Bumblebee” helmer Travis Knight and “Rise of the Planet of the Apes'” Rupert Wyatt. Ruben Fleischer directed the first movie in 2018, but isn’t returning as he is in post-production on the studio’s “Zombieland: Double Tap.” Sony hopes to shoot the follow-up to “Venom” in the fall.

Hardy is returning as the journalist-turned-alien symbiote. “Venom,” from Sony Pictures’ catalog of Marvel characters, became a surprise hit for the studio. The comic-book adventure grossed $213 million at the domestic box office and a massive $855 million worldwide. The news comes after Sony recently dated an untitled Marvel sequel for October 2020. Superhero enthusiasts put the pieces together to assume that slot was for “Venom 2,

Venom 2: 10 Directors Who Would Be Perfect For Tom Hardy's Sequel

Sony’s search for a director to helm the sequel to their surprisingly successful 2018 Venom movie is underway. With the director of the original, Ruben Fleischer, busy making the sequel to Zombieland, the studio is reportedly looking at motion-capture star Andy Serkis, Rise of the Planet of the ApesRupert Wyatt, and Travis Knight, who recently won acclaim for Bumblebee, the sixth Transformers movie (and first good one). Tom Hardy May Have Just Accidentally Confirmed Andy Serkis as Director of Venom 2

Last week, we reported that three directors were in the running to direct Venom 2. Those directors are Travis Knight (Bumblebee), Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planets of the Apes), and Andy Serkis (Mowgli). While we still haven’t gotten an official word on who the director will be, Venom himself, Tom Hardy, may have just leaked the info.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Hardy posted a picture of Andy Serkis. The weird part is that it’s not a photo of the two of them, or a candid shot on set. It’s like a nice, red carpet head shot of Serkis. Maybe Hardy is just a big fan! But for him to post it, then quickly take it down, it leads fans to believe that Serkis is now tied to the film, and Hardy is in trouble for leaking the news! Maybe Hardy is just throwing out his

Andy Serkis, Travis Knight and Rupert Wyatt have met with Sony about directing Venom 2

With Ruben Fleischer busy with post-production on Zombieland: Double Tap, it seems that Sony is wasting little time in finding a replacement for the filmmaker on Venom 2, with Variety reporting that the studio has recently met with three potential directors for the Marvel sequel.

According to the trade, Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle), Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) are among the names who have been speaking to Sony executives, although it’s not believed at this point that a front-runner has been identified.

Despite producer Amy Pascal stating recently that there’s “no timetable” for Venom 2, it’s thought that Sony is looking to get production underway in the fall ahead of an October 2020 release.

Travis Knight, Andy Serkis, and Rupert Wyatt in The Running To Direct Venom 2

Sony Pictures is on the hunt for a director to take on Venom 2. Ruben Fleischer directed the first film, which starred Tom Hardy, but he will obviously not be back to direct. He is currently in post-production on Zombieland: Double Tap.

According to Variety, the studio is currently in talks with Andy Serkis (Mowgli), Travis Knight (Bumblebee), and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). No deal has been made with any of these directors yet, they are just a handful of filmmakers that they are meeting with.

Out of all these choices my favorite is Travis Knight. I love what he did with Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings, and I think he could make a Venom sequel that is far superior to the first one. I think Serkis is the worst choice. His Jungle Book movie Mowgli was awful. As for Wyatt, I think he

Sony Has Met With Andy Serkis And Others About Directing Venom 2

Whenever Andy Serkis’ name is mentioned, odds are his roles in either the Lord of the Rings or Planet of the Apes series will spring to mind. After all, there’s a reason people look at him as being the King of Mocap. Or, if you’re a Marvel fan, then you may associate him with Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther, two films in which he played Ulysses Klaue.

Well, if all goes well, Serkis may find himself working on yet another project related to the Marvel brand – but in a much different capacity. Believe it or not, Sony recently met with him to discuss directing Venom 2. I know, it wasn’t something I expected to read today, either, but The Hollywood Reporter says he’s in the mix, with Collider bringing word that Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Travis Knight (Bumblebee) have also been approached.

Sony reportedly wants to have the Venom 2 production start before November of this year. According to a new report, Andy Serkis met with top executives at Sony this week about directing the sequel.
