Playmobil: The Movie Review

  • HeyUGuys
If Playmobil: The Movie had a (memorable) theme song it would be Everything is Meh. Not offensive, actively unpleasant or particularly poor, just…meh. In fact, Playmobil: The Movie is exactly the sort of film which springs to mind when someone tells you that a Playmobil movie exists.

Marla and Charlie Brenner make a formidable team. When the siblings play, the world falls away and they are free to roam their imaginary Playmobil universe together. The Knight and The Viking are the tiny alter egos who unite and fight at their command, nothing is impossible for this adventurous pair.

Marla (Anya Taylor-Joy) has an appetite for adventure in the real world too. Elaborate travel plans festoon her bedroom and the first big song of the movie is peppered with excited exclamations over all the bright things the future will bring. Then tragically the bubble bursts.

Four years later childish things

Why All Your Favorite Songs Are Suddenly Being Sued
Katy Perry hasn’t released a new album in two years. But the pop star’s name lit up headlines this week as fervidly as if she had, when a jury unanimously ruled that her 2013 smash hit “Dark Horse” copied an older song from a little-known Christian rapper — a decision that, in rare combination, has sent both celebrity bloggers and intellectual properly lawyers atwitter.

Dark Horse” came under fire in 2014 from rapper Flame (real name Marcus Gray), who alleged that it ripped off the beat from his 2009 song “Joyful Noise.

Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh, Coolest Couple Ever, Are Not Too Cool For Pda
Pharrell Williams makes nonstop jams, and his wife since 2013, the super-stylish Helen Lasichanh, seems just as cool. Together, they just might be the coolest couple (they're at least the most fashion-forward) in Hollywood right now. Though the parents of four kids are intensely private about their relationship, they still step out together from time and time - and in between their fiercely fashionable appearances, they also show a little Pda, like a quick kiss and an almost-constant hand-hold. It just shows that no one's too cool for true love.

Nas’ ‘The Lost Tapes II’ Is a Grab Bag Set That Shows Every Side of the Iconic Rapper
Nas, a rap great by any measure, has released four studio albums in the last 12 years — all ambitious, all restless, all with their own cohesive artistic thread. And despite none of them being as groundbreaking as his storied 1994 debut Illmatic or as narrative-grabbing as his 2001 return to form, every one of them is good-to-great. Even though last year’s Kanye West-produced 11th album, Nasir, got a somewhat lukewarm response, it still featured the phenomenal “Cops Shot the Kid,” which ultimately cracked the Billboard Hot 100. The Lost Tapes II, is

‘The Lion King': What Was That Elton John Song During the Credits?
If you just seen “The Lion King,” you may have recognized two songs not included in the 1994 original animated classic, including one by that film’s songwriter, Elton John.

The first of the two new songs sung during the film is Beyoncé’s “Spirit,” and we’re guessing you recognized her voice. But the song that plays over the film’s end credits is in fact a new track by Sir Elton. The song is called “Never Too Late,” and John teamed up again with lyricist Tim Rice to record the song for Disney’s live-action remake of “The Lion King.”

Never Too Late” is an upbeat, bouncy song with a Motown, throwback vibe and an accompanying African choir, and it appears both during the film’s end credits and on the official soundtrack for “The Lion King.” The song is also a new one recorded specifically for the remake

Pharrell Curtsying to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Is Practically Too Cute to Handle

  • Popsugar
Pharrell Williams sure wasn't going to be caught snubbing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. At the star-studded Lion King premiere in London, the rapper and producer - who worked on several songs on the remake's soundtrack - briefly stopped to meet with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when he attended with wife Helen Lasichanh. After receiving compliments from the royals about his outfit, Pharell proceeded to curtsy, hilariously pulling at his shorts in the process. Fortunately, the moment was captured on Instagram Stories by Harry and Meghan's official account.

It was an eventful evening for the couple. Not only did it mark their first-ever movie premiere together, but they also met Beyoncé and Jay-Z for the first time. Beyoncé told Meghan, "We love you guys." Adding, "Your baby is so beautiful." Praise from Beyoncé and a curtsy from Pharrell? Not a bad night. Not a bad night at all.

Hans Zimmer on Recreating Iconic Score: ‘The Lion King’ ‘Brought People Together’
Composer Hans Zimmer is seated at the mixing board at the Sony scoring stage, head bobbing to the music being performed by 107 musicians just a few yards away. He’s wearing a vintage “Lion King World Tour” T-shirt, frayed at the collar.

On the giant screen behind the orchestra, two lions are bounding across the African veldt. As the ensemble finishes playing cue 5M31, Hans tells conductor Nick Glennie-Smith, “I like the feel — one more time, from the beginning,” while Jon Favreau, director of this new, all-computer-imagery “Lion King,” says simply, “That was pretty cool, Hans.”

Twenty-four years ago, Zimmer won an Oscar for his score for the original animated version of “The Lion King.” Since then, he has written such influential scores as “Gladiator,” “The Dark Knight” and “Inception” — yet when Favreau asked him to re-create his music for Disney’s elaborate new version, and to supervise production of
