Mini Bio (1)

Lunatic Calm was a collaborative project between Simon Shackleton and Howie Saunders (featuring additional member, Jez Noble on live drums). The band released two diverse albums of hybridized electronic-rock.

Lunatic Calm formed out of the ashes of Shackleton and Saunders' previous project, Flicker Noise and was influenced by the likes of The Chemical Brothers, NIN, Massive Attack and Underworld. The name 'Lunatic Calm' was derived from a song they wrote whilst demoing ideas as Flicker Noise. In 1999, they signed a deal with LA-based City of Angels Records, who secured funding from Virgin's V2 wing for their second album, Breaking Point, which appeared in 2002. Shortly after that, the band went their separate ways.

The biggest success of that era was the use of 'Leave You Far Behind' in The Matrix. They also secured licenses to around 20 other movies, including Charlie's Angels, Arlington Road, The Jackyll and Lara Croft, among others. Their music has been used in a number of TV shows, including Law & Order, Top Gear, Roswell, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and LA Doctors. They have also appeared on a range of Videogames, including FIFA, Driveclub, Gran Turismo and Motorstorm. Simon Shackleton went on to create the music for the Motorstorm: Apocalypse game alongside composer Klaus Badelt and enjoyed a successful DJ and Production career creating electronic music under the names Elite Force & Zodiac Cartel, as well as under his given name.
