The Detour Canceled After Four Seasons at TBS

It's the end of the line for the Parker family and their road trip.

TBS has decided against renewing The Detour for a fifth season, meaning that the recent fourth season finale now serves as the series finale.

The Natalie Zea and Jason Jones-fronted comedy was never a hit in the ratings, but it was a reliable performer.

The fourth season 0.72 million total viewers and a 0.26 rating among adults 18-49, down a significant 30% vs. Season 3.

TBS has also canceled Angie Tribeca and Wrecked recently, leading many to believe that it could be saying goodbye to scripted comedy series.

American Dad continues to be the highest-rated series in the demo, but the linear ratings were not much better than some of the canceled shows.

What we do know is that Snowpiercer, which was originally in the works at TNT, is moving to TBS.

The Detour Cancelled at TBS

The Parker family’s road trip is officially over: TBS has cancelled The Detour after four seasons, TVLine has learned.

The twisted family comedy starred Jason Jones and Natalie Zea as parents Nate and Robin, who embark on an innocent road trip from New York to Florida with their three two kids. The trip, of course, went horribly wrong, with the family running into trouble at every stop; subsequent seasons saw the Parker family move to New York City (with James Cromwell and Laura Benanti joining the cast), then Alaska, and then travel around the globe to locate missing child Delilah.

‘The Detour’ Canceled By TBS After Four Seasons

  • Deadline
The Detour is coming to an end. TBS has opted not to renew the comedy series starring Jason Jones and Natalie Zea for a fifth season. The final episode of Season 4, which aired on August 20, doubled as a series finale.

Created, written and executive-produced by husband-and-wife duo of Jones and Samantha Bee, The Detour was part of the first wave of comedy series ordered by TBS after Kevin Reilly joined Turner, which broke through. Most of the others, including Wrecked and People of Earth, were also canceled recently as TBS is morphing from a comedy-centric to a general-entertainment network featuring both comedy and drama programming.

The Detour focused on the hilariously dysfunctional Parker family and their infamous misadventures, which included a bonkers road trip, a disastrous move to New York and a run from the law in Alaska, among other things.

The well received series was a breakout hit and

Jason Jones' 'The Detour' Latest Scripted Cancellation at TBS

The Detour has hit its final roadblock.

TBS has canceled the Jason Jones-led comedy after four seasons. The Aug. 20 season four finale now doubles as a series finale for the show that rebooted itself as a new family adventure every season.

Never a ratings breakout, the single-camera effort from TBS' Studio T and Jax Media signed off with 732,000 same-day viewers last month. Still, the comedy, in which Jones and Natalie Zea starred as a married couple who goes on a new and event-filled vacation with their children every season, was a strong performer on the digital side....

Snowpiercer Cast and Ep Talk Class Warfare, 'Bug Bars' and Apocalypse Golfing in TBS' Series Adaptation

When Snowpiercer premieres on TBS, pay close attention to the accommodations in the back of the titular, globe-circumnavigating train, says star Daveed Diggs: Things aren’t necessarily what they seem.

“The tail end is essentially stowaways. There’s not much there. So they make a lot out of a little,” he says in the video above. “All the beds are made out of, like, discarded golf clubs that I assume they stole from all the rich people’s luggage?” He laughs incredulously. “Because they thought they were going to play golf in the apocalypse?”

The Detour's Natalie Zea Spills on Her Dual Role, Including Working the Pole

TBSThe Detour (Tuesdays at 10:30/9:30c) has embarked on one its more unexpected side trips, with the reveal that Robin has a twin, named Bluejay. “Bj,” as she is called (and for which she is regarded?), at first came off as just a wilder child, then later revealed herself to be downright bats—t.

When last we tuned in, Bj was at “husband” Nate’s side, having chopped her locks to match her twin’s and left an unconscious Robin shackled inside a barn. So if you’re a fan of Natalie Zea, this uproarious arc is truly twice as nice.
