Jukka Virtanen was born on July 25, 1933 in Jämsänkoski, Finland as Jukka Jalmari Virtanen. He was a writer and director, known for Noin 7 veljestä (1968), If You Love (2010) and Lauantai-ilta kestikievarissa (1963). He was married to Liisa Virtanen. He died on September 1, 2019 in Helsinki, Finland.

He was also a well-known lyricist.
He recorded around 30 humorous songs.
He wrote several books, both for children and adults.
His hobby was football. He wrote a Finnish version of a Christmas calendar TV series, "The Joulukalenteri". One actor in "The Joulukalenteri" was Kari Lehtomäki, who is a member of the Finnish orchestra, Finlanders.
He played football with "Kansainväliset koskelaiset", also called "Haliovich", team in Germany in 2003.
