The superstar Formerly Known as the Fresh Prince has been nominated for two Academy Awards, five Golden Globes and one Screen Actors Guild Award, and has won four Grammys (out of eight nominations). Yet a Primetime Emmy nomination has so far eluded Smith.

Throughout its two seasons, the series took viewers back to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the Salem Witch Trials, Hollywood’s golden age, and the Battle of the Alamo, to name a few. It wrapped up its run with a two-hour Christmas special that took place during both California’s Gold Rush and the Korean War’s Hungnam evacuation.
