‘Reprisal’ Producers And Cast Talk Good Vs. Evil, “Feminist Rage” And How Hulu Drama Creates “Genre Of Era Ambiguity” – TCA

  • Deadline
Created by Josh Corbin and executive produced by The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Warren Littlefield, Hulu’s Reprisal follows Doris, a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads. The hyper-noir drama, like many series as of late, blurs the lines of good and evil — but Reprisal takes that on from a different angle.

Corbin and Littlefield were joined on the TCA stage Friday by series stars Abigail Spencer, Mena Massoud, Rhys Wakefield and Rodrigo Santoro to talk about how Hulu’s new series tackles the age-old debate of what’s right and what’s wrong.

“I think the difference between good and evil is a blurred line,” said Corbin, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. “I want the audience to ask themselves, ‘I don’t know how I feel about that’.”

Massoud, who plays Ethan on the show,

Confident and well-structured, the 10-episode first season makes an overall impact with a compelling cast of characters trying to negotiate their faith. The show apparently performed well with Ali, and according to Hulu, the actor is

The Handmaid's Tale Renewed for Season 4 at Hulu

Renewed be the fruit: The Handmaid’s Tale will be back for Season 4, Hulu announced Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

‘The Orville’ Moves To Hulu From Fox For Season 3 In 2020
Seth MacFarlane’s space adventure series The Orville is moving to Hulu from Fox for its upcoming third season. The series will be available exclusively on the streaming service as a Hulu Original in late 2020. MacFarlane made the announcement today during the show’s panel at Comic-Con in San Diego.

As for the decision to move the series, which was renewed by Fox for a third season in May, Deadline hears the show has evolved and production timelines have pushed delivery, making what was planned as a mid-season debut difficult. The show has a passionate fan base, and Hulu was able to step in as a home where the show can continue. Following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox assets, Hulu is now a corporate sibling to The Orville producer 20th TV, where MacFarlane has long been under a deal, but Fox no longer is.

How YouTube Is Trying to Get Will Smith His First-Ever Emmy Nomination (Exclusive)

  • Variety
YouTube could be the key to Will Smith finally earning a Primetime Emmy nomination — or win.

The superstar Formerly Known as the Fresh Prince has been nominated for two Academy Awards, five Golden Globes and one Screen Actors Guild Award, and has won four Grammys (out of eight nominations). Yet a Primetime Emmy nomination has so far eluded Smith.

That’s despite Smith’s long-running stint as the star of the hit 1990s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Smith’s other TV credits include executive producing Upn’s “All of Us.” But neither of those even got him a primetime nod. Smith technically was nominated in 1992 for a Daytime Emmy Award, in the outstanding special class program category for his part in the special “NBA All-Star Stay in School Jam,” but that’s it.

One explanation is obvious: After “Fresh Prince,” Smith mostly turned his attention to film. His
