There’s no shortage of eye-catching projects on offer at the 40th American Film Market, but will the event, much-maligned by the industry as a schlockfest in recent years due to a paucity of high-profile deal making, rediscover some of its former buzz?

Blunt replaces Holliday Grainger in the role of Rosemary.

Emily Blunt and Jon Hamm have joined Jamie Dornan in the cast of John Patrick Shanley’s Irish drama Wild Mountain Thyme, with Bleecker Street and Lionsgate acquiring Us and UK rights respectively on the title.

Blunt replaces Holliday Grainger as the female lead, with Grainger dropping out due to a scheduling conflict. Further new cast including Christopher Walken and Dearbhla Molloy.

HanWay Films negotiated the deal with Lionsgate UK; CAA and Andrew Kramer handled the Us sale.

Ravani has previously worked at TF1 and Protagonist.

UK sales outfit HanWay Films has appointed Marta Ravani as director of its documentary and library label HanWay Select.

The newly-created role will see Ravani oversee HanWay Films’ library selection and as-yet-unannounced upcoming slate of documentaries.

The hire is part of an overall expansion of the team. Mark Lane has been overseeing HanWay Select but will now focus more on the HanWay Films sales slate.

Exclusive: HanWay Films has grown its sales team with the hire of former Protagonist and TF1 exec Marta Ravani who joins as director, HanWay Select.

Ravani will oversee HanWay’s extensive library and upcoming slate of documentaries. The UK firm’s catalog includes classics from the likes of Bernardo Bertolucci, David Cronenberg, Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Bob Rafelson and John Dower.

Long-time HanWay Select director of sales Mark Lane continues at the company as director of sales to focus on the company’s expanding slate.

Ravani worked in production in Paris before moving into international sales and acquisitions for Funny Balloons where she was responsible for the acquisition of Tony Manero by Pablo Larrain.

HanWay Films has boarded sales on Takashi Miike’s “First Love,” which has been selected for Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. HanWay has worldwide rights excluding Asia.

Jeremy Thomas’ Recorded Picture Company is re-teaming with Miike on the picture, which will have its world premiere in Cannes. But when fate lends a hand and the table seating is re-arranged, one small change drastically alters destiny and leads to disastrous and hilarious consequences.

Endeavor Content is handling worldwide sales. The film is a UK and Italian co-production that begins production on location in Rome on May 6.
