Although it was widely reported that the stingray's barb had come out, got stuck in his chest and he pulled it out. (additionally with reporters adding "He pulled out the 'plug', but it was like being stabbed with a dirty dagger"). His eyewitness/cameraman confirmed that those reports were actually wrong and that Irwin could not be saved due to the stingray's deadly venom. See more »
