‘Big Shot’: Jessalyn Gilsig Joins Disney+ Series From David E. Kelley In Recasting

‘Big Shot’: Jessalyn Gilsig Joins Disney+ Series From David E. Kelley In Recasting
Exclusive: Jessalyn Gilsig (Vikings) has been cast as a female lead opposite John Stamos in Big Shot, Disney+ upcoming original series written and executive produced by David E. Kelley and Dean Lorey and produced by ABC Studios, part of Disney Television Studios.

The 10-episode series follows a temperamental college basketball coach (Stamos) who gets fired from his job and must take a teaching and coaching job at an elite all-girls private high school.

Gilsig will play Holly, the school’s good-humored and down-to-earth assistant basketball coach. She replaces Shiri Appleby, who had been tapped for the part in October.

The role of Holly was originally conceived and cast younger but I hear the character has since evolved to be more of a contemporary to Stamos’ Marvin — and potential love interest for him down the road — leading to the recasting.

Big Shot reunites Gilsig with Kelley; she played one of the

Scandal Recap: Pick Your Poison

While Olivia and her renewed allies at Qpa spent Thursday’s Scandal doing their best to save Mellie’s presidency, Marcus (and Fitz by proxy) made it his mission to save her soul.

“Dark, desperate and capable of going to be a place she can’t come back from” was how Marcus described the president during a concerned chat with Fitz, suggesting that the former Potus still seems “haunted” and “tormented” by his days in office. “You survived the Oval, but don’t you think Mellie deserves better than that?”

This inspired Fitz to give his old office a ring

Scandal Round Table: She's Alive!

Did you see that big Jennifer twist coming?

On Scandal Season 6 Episode 5, it was revealed that Jennifer was very much alive and Jake was trying to turn over a new leaf.

TV Fanatics, Jasmine Blu, Jim Garner, Sarah Hearon and Christine Hinton discuss the big twist, Jake's new take on killing and Rowan's new boss.

Jennifer is alive. React!

Jasmine: I know this is Scandal, and these sort of "gotchas" happen all the time, but they got me. I genuinely thought she was dead. I was pleasantly surprised-- shocked, that she is alive and kicking. I cannot wait to hear what she has to say.

Jim: Ok, first, I'm shocked that Jake didn't actually kill her. However, I have to ask about the reveal. What was she doing sitting in the dark in a cabin all alone? How did she not have a light on in the other room, or the TV,

Scandal Season 6 Episode 5 Review: They All Bow Down

What the heck is going on?

That very thought came to my mind several times as I watched the drama-filled Scandal Season 6 Episode 5.

At first, I thought Jake had reverted to his old ways as Rowan's speed-dial murderer, but it appears that he's working for himself.

He kidnapped Olivia to tell her the truth. She was petrified, and I expected there to be some sort of scuffle. Why didn't he just put her mind at ease and let her know the good news earlier?

Did his actions prove that he gets a thrill out of seeing people fearing for their lives? It certainly seemed that way. Jake has always been an odd character on Scandal

He's always been tough to read, but I was so sure he was the murderer and was back in cahoots with Rowan after that flashback showed him blowing the cabin up.

I probably speak for

Scandal Season 6: Jessalyn Gilsig Joins in Recast

  • TVfanatic
Jake's wife, Vanessa, is going to look a little different when Scandal Season 6 arrives in 2017.

While it hasn't been confirmed by ABC, the role appears to have been recast.

Original actress, Joelle Carter, got a gig on Chicago Justice (also coming in 2017), so Jessalyn Gilsig will get to do any television snuggery required by the role.

Of course, if things continue in the vein of Scandal Season 5, we may not see much of Gilsig at all.

Olivia was trying to get Jake to leave Vanessa at the alter.

The only reason Jake didn't do it was because Rowan, sweet, daddy dearest, threatened to kill him.

Gilsig is used to being tugged between characters, both men and women, for purposes of plot.

She most recently played Siggy on History's Vikings. You either loved her or you hated her.

Me? I cried my eyes out when she took her leave.
