WWE Network Original Reviews: Table for Three – General Managers Special

  • Nerdly
Table for Three is a great original show idea and I’ve enjoyed watching each episodes over the past five seasons or so. The new episode which landed this week was titled “General Managers Special” and features Eric Bischoff, Kurt Angle and Vickie Guerrero.

Now, if you’ve been a fan of WWE over the past couple of decades you’ll have seen each of these guys feature on WWE programming as a General Manager of either Raw or SmackDown (or both). Kurt Angle is the most recent Gm, heading up Raw a year or so back, with the other guys not having done it in a while, but it’s a fun mix, and each of these WWE legends are enthusiastic and likeable as they talk about their individual runs as Gm’s in WWE.

Now, the show only ever lasts a half-hour, so there’s not much conversation beyond the topic on hand,

John Cena's 10 Most Memorable Movie Roles, Ranked

From the minute he stepped into the ring with Kurt Angle, John Cena had a star quality that couldn’t be ignored. He parlayed his “hustle, loyalty, respect” motto into 16 world championship reigns. Though WWE fans may miss seeing him in the squared circle, his successful movie career means we may not see him headline WrestleMania again anytime soon.

With ‘SmackDown,’ ‘Nxt,’ and Aew’s ‘Dynamite,’ Pro Wrestling Set for Big Fall Push

  • Variety
If you’re a fan of professional wrestling, this fall is going to be a slobberknocker of a good time.

As of Oct. 4, there will be nine hours of pro wrestling available on major broadcast and cable channels every week. WWE programming comprises most of that time, with “Monday Night Raw” airing on USA Network, “SmackDown Live” making its move to Fox Friday nights, and the WWE’s developmental brand Nxt debuting its full two-hour show Wednesdays on USA. Meanwhile, the new promotion All Elite Wrestling, or Aew, will launch its two-hour show “Dynamite” on TNT on Wednesday.

The “SmackDown” move is the culmination of a billion-dollar deal between the WWE and Fox that will see the sports entertainment brand air on the broadcaster for the next five years as part of Fox’s new push into more live sports events, now that it is a standalone company post-Disney/21st Century Fox merger.

The Last Week in Wrestling #38 (Wrestling Round-Up)

  • Nerdly
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here in Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and there are a bunch of wrestling things to discuss, so let’s do so. This is a few weeks late, so sue me.

Best Promo:

Rowan Is His Own Man (WWE) – Erick Rowan cut a great promo where he told every-one he attacked Roman Reigns for his own benefit. This might have been the best option for Rowan. Hell, this is the best thing that’s ever happened in his career. Good for him.

Best Moment:

Nxt Debuts On USA (WWE) – What can I say? This is pretty cool. It might only be the first hour, but Nxt getting on network television is some-thing that wasn’t in the cards a few years ago, so this is a win.

Best Move:

Six Star Frog Splash (Impact Wrestling) – Willie Mack

Exclusive Interview: Vince Russo

  • Nerdly
I recently had a chance to sit down and talk very quickly to Vince Russo, the former head-writer for WWE back in the late 90’s during the infamous and beloved Attitude Era. He went on to work for WCW and Tna and has been a voice on YouTube and Podcasting in recent years. Controversial or not, Vince Russo left a mark on professional wrestling with his work and I want to thank him for spending a few minutes answering a few of my long-winded questions. So… short and sweet, here’s Nerdly’s quick-fire interview with Vince Russo.

Now, you’ve been a part of the wrestling industry for over 27 years, longer than many fans have even been alive. If you were to put a sum up your time as both a fan, writer and wrestling personality, what would you say?

Fan – 26 years

Writer – 21 years

Personality – 28 years

Ten Best: WWE Pay-Per-Views of all time

  • Nerdly
Welcome back folks. So, being a fan of wrestling means you see the same conversations and discussions going on between fans, discussions that never really change. In all the time I’ve been watching pro-wrestling, for twenty-seven years, the question “what’s the best PPV ever” has come up. It’s all about opinion, really. It’s all about choice. What one wrestling fan likes, another wrestling fan might hate, and visa versa. I, however, like to make things difficult for myself, and as seen as we now have the WWE Network (wonder how much it costs…) at our disposal, a wonderful and deep service, I can easily revisit a whole bunch of shows and compile a list of what I, personally, think are the ten best WWE (or WWF) Pay-per-views ever. I won’t talk about Ecw or WCW here, or New Japan Pro Wrestling, or Aew or any other promotion.

Ten Best: Things WWE did in The Attitude Era!

  • Nerdly
If you’ve read my Top 10: Terrible Things that WWE Did During The Attitude Era article you’ll probably know that this article was coming. I couldn’t do a list of bad things without following it up with a list of the best things that WWE did back in the infamous Attitude Era. So, here we go…

10. PPVs Felt Different

If you watch WWE PPVs now, which I do, you’ll likely notice that they pretty much all look the same. Sure, the logos are different, but the set-up is all the same. It’s not really the biggest deal, but I did always get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing the unique sets that WWE would implement on their shows back in this era. If it was WWF Armageddom the stage would be littered with chain link, tanks, barrels, scaffolding. If it was WWF Backlash, we

Opinionated: What Are The Best Matches In King of the Ring History?

  • Nerdly
Okay, okay, okay… so I’ve already rambled on about King of the Ring in a previous “Opinionated” article, here on Nerdly, but I thought it might be fun to also talk about this too. What are the very best matches from King of the Ring? I’m talking about the King of the Ring Pay-Per View events that ran from 1993 until the final PPV in 2002.

I mentioned before how much of a fan of the King of the Ring concept I am. I think it’s a really cool way to highlight new characters and wrestlers, put a bunch of talent on a card and do something unique once a year in the same way that shows like Royal Rumble and Survivor Series do. There has been a mass of matches in the ten PPV shows that ran under the King of the Ring name. Some of them have been decent,

Opinionated: Should WWE Bring King of the Ring Back as a Pay-Per View?

  • Nerdly
Okay, so fans of current-day wrestling will know that WWE just recently announced the return of the King of the Ring tournament to television. An old concept, the King of the Ring dates all the way back to the likes of “Macho King” Randy Savage, King Haku and King Harley Race, but the first televised Pay-per View King of the Ring event didn’t happen until 1993 when Bret “Hitman” Hart became the inaugural winner by defeating Bam Bam Bigelow in the finals. It was a fun idea and it helped highlight Bret Hart a little more as the (then) WWF pushed Bret up the card as they began to develop him into the face of the company.

A year later the younger brother of Bret, Owen Hart, became King, and this is when the concept really took hold for me. Owen, a great heel, took on the moniker of “The

WWE’s ‘Raw Reunion’ Is Highest-Rated Episode Since 2018 Superstar Shakeup

WWE’s “Raw Reunion” Monday night pinned down 3.093 million total viewers, an increase of 26% from last week’s regular ol’ “Raw” episode.

In terms of both total viewers and the key 18-49 demographic, last night’s “Raw” was actually the highest-rated episode since the April 16, 2018 Superstar Shakeup.

Yes, that means it did even better than the “Raw” after WrestleMania 35, which is a big performer annually and marks the start of World Wrestling Entertainment’s new “season.” Monday’s episode was 5% higher among adults 18-49 than that April 8, 2019 fallout show, and did 6% better overall.

The “Raw Reunion” did not keep pace with Jan. 22, 2018’s “Raw 25” episode, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of WWE’s flagship series on USA Network.

Last week’s “Monday Night Raw” delivered 2.453 million total viewers in Nielsen’s Live

‘WWE Extreme Rules 2019′ PPV Review

  • Nerdly
Welcome to this review of WWE’s Extreme Rules event, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a card that looks quite good on paper. Let’s see if this show can get on the road to success. I feel like I work at Office Max when I say stuff like that. Road To Success. Anyway, let’s get to it.

Match #1: Shinsuke Nakamura beat Finn Balor – WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

This tried to be a hit, but it felt like a really fantastic miss. These guys could have had a great one, but they only got a few minutes to show what they could do and it just wasn’t enough.

My Opinion: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Drew Gulak beat Tony Nese – WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

This was the same thing as the match above.

My Opinion: 2.5 out of 5 Match #3: The Undertaker & Roman

John Cena Is Officially Confirmed for Fast and Furious 9

John Cena Is Officially Confirmed for Fast and Furious 9
Dwayne Johnson will soon not be the only wrestling legend and actor to star in the Fast and Furious franchise, as John Cena has officially been confirmed as a part of the cast of Fast & Furious 9. The confirmation comes after co-star Vin Diesel previously spoke about Cena's involvement in the project back in April, so although the news is now official, it isn't exactly a surprise. Not much has yet been revealed about the character Cena will play, but the character at this time is being described as a "badass." If that's all they're looking for, Cena certainly fits that bill.

The franchise has definitely felt very different following the demise of series star Paul Walker, but with so much money to be made, the show must go on. Full details on the plot have not yet been released, though we know it will be the second of
