Edward Furlong “really, really happy” to be back for Terminator: Dark Fate

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and James Cameron reunite this November for Terminator: Dark Fate, the sixth instalment in the iconic action sci-fi franchise and the first to feature the trio since 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last month, Schwarzenegger and Hamilton won’t be the only T2 stars part of the big reunion, as John Connor himself Edward Furlong is also set to reprise his role as the future leader of the Resistance. And, speaking to TheArnoldFans, Furlong has revealed that he’s “really, really happy” to be back:

“I’m not allowed to say anything, but yeah, yeah man, I mean it’s a small role but it’s, you know, I’m in there, man,” said Furlong. “I’m in there. I’m glad to be back on it, I’m really, really happy to be doing it.

Schwarzenegger Talks King Conan Script with Original Director John Milius
Arnold Schwarzenegger recently reunited with Conan the Barbarian director John Milius, and the two apparently spoke about the next potential movie King Conan. In a new image posted on Instagram, Schwarzenegger is shown frollicking with Milius at Silicon Valley Comic-Con. "Yes, I talked to him about his King Conan script," the actor says in the caption, apparently knowing fans were definitely going to ask. Of course, Schwarzenegger stops short of revealing anything about the script or the status of its potential to see the light of day, but the photo does keep the hope alive that we'll one day get the proper Conan sequel fans of the franchise deserve.

The relationship between Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Milius dates all the way back to the early '80s. It was certainly Schwarzenegger's breakout role as the titular warrior in Conan the Barbarian in 1982, which Milius had directed and co-written with Oliver Stone.

Edward Furlong Comments on His Upcoming Role in Terminator: Dark Fate

One of the most surprising revelations at San Diego Comic-Con this year was the moment that James Cameron video conferenced the crowd at Hall H during the Terminator: Dark Fate panel and told the crowd that he was excited to have Edward Furlong back for the film that they are saying is a direct sequel to 1991 film, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The crowd went wild. Furlong was the young teenage son of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and was so fantastic in that movie. He went on to star in the 1998 film American History X, and gave another fantastic performance, but then kind of fell off the map. It was said he fell on hard times with an addiction problem, although he did keep acting, just in B films that no one was watching.

To have him back feels like maybe he has his life together, and I’m really happy for him.

10 Things That Make No Sense About The Terminator Franchise

The Terminator franchise has always been one of Hollywood's most confounding franchises. After a stellar first outing, a decade almost had to pass before director James Cameron returned for the sequel. However, Judgement Day was an instant classic, surpassing the original in every way possible and becoming a seminal film in the science fiction genre.

Both of these films are held in such high regard that no matter what comes next for the franchise, fans usually have high hopes. Even after each subsequent sequel came with diminishing returns. Now, the fanbase is getting ready again for a new movie, Dark Fate, and hopes are again high, and with good reason. Series stars Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, and Arnold are reuniting on screen. James Cameron is also returning to produce, while the movie will be directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool 2).

Edward Furlong Breaks The Silence On His Return As John Connor In Terminator: Dark Fate

The Terminator franchise has been in bad shape for a while, with 1991’s Terminator: Judgement Day the last acclaimed entry in the sci-fi series. For Terminator: Dark Fate, then, producer James Cameron and the filmmakers have decided to bring back a couple of fan favorite faces from the first Terminator sequel. We’ve always known that Linda Hamilton would feature in it as Sarah Connor, but it was revealed last month that Edward Furlong would also be back as her son John.

Though John has been a major part of each successive film following T2, Furlong hasn’t been seen in the franchise since then. So, it naturally came as a big surprise that he was returning for Dark Fate. And it sounds like it was a surprise to Furlong himself, too. The actor attended a Terminator reunion panel at Silicon Valley Comic-Con recently where The Arnold Fans caught up with him.

Terminator: Dark Fate - Natalia Reyes on New Character Dani

Delia Harrington Aug 12, 2019

We spoke to newcomer Natalia Reyes about her mysterious character's role in Terminator: Dark Fate and working with Linda Hamilton.

Most of the Terminator: Dark Fate headlines have been about the returning talent. Linda Hamilton is returning to her game-changing role of Sarah Connor after almost three decades away. Edward Furlong is back to play an adult John Conner in spite of his domestic violence history, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be there (isn’t he always?), and James Cameron returns as co-writer and producer.

But the trailers also introduced two new characters. A human-cyborg hybrid named Grace played by Mackenzie Davis, and Dani, who has remained a relative mystery.

Den of Geek caught up with Natalia Reyes, the Colombian actor who plays Dani Ramos, at Comic-Con, to learn more about her character’s role, road tripping with Linda Hamilton, and the film’s impressive action sequences.

10 Things You’ve Never Noticed From Terminator 2

On July 3, 1991, James Cameron unleashed Terminator 2: Judgement Day on the world. Right from the opening shot of a crowed L.A. Freeway to Sarah’s opening line; “Three billion lives ended on August 29th, 1997,” to chase after chase the tension mounts and grips you, never letting go, in a way seldom films can ever match. At the very least, no other movie in Terminator franchise has matched this film in any conceivable way, including the first one!

At the time of its release. T2 was the most expensive film ever made, and it shows. After seeing how well Ilm animated the pseudopod scene in his previous film, The Abyss, director James Cameron knew the time was right to ask the effects house with creating the T-1000. Terminator 2 was one of the, if not the first to animate a human, and plenty of the effects still hold up to this very day,

Linda Hamilton talks Sarah Connor return in Terminator: Dark Fate

Coinciding with its panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International on Thursday – where it was confirmed that Edward Furlong is making his return as John Connor – Linda Hamilton has been chatting to Entertainment Weekly about reprising the role of action heroine Sarah Connor for this year’s Terminator: Dark Fate.

“There is a real gift in that so much time has passed, and that gives me so much more to explore with the character,” said Hamilton, who last portrayed the character almost thirty years ago in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day. “Sarah Connor is the same person but I wanted to see how the difference in events have changed her and shaped her and send her forward. There was meat there. I didn’t want to just recycle the same idea. It’s a woman who has a different mission, a different story, so I wanted to see what we could do with that.
