Sharon Osbourne Urges Thomas Cook To Stop Selling Tickets To SeaWorld

Over 20,000 people have joined PETA in calling on Thomas Cook to stop promoting and selling tickets to SeaWorld – and now, television icon Sharon Osbourne is among them.

Last month, The X Factor judge has sent a letter on PETA’s behalf calling on the travel provider to remove the notoriously cruel amusement park from its promotions, writing, “Orcas at SeaWorld never get a holiday. Day in and day out, they’re forced to live in barren, grotesquely small enclosures with no means of escape.”

She goes on to explain that in nature, orcas travel up to 100 miles a day – but at SeaWorld, they have no choice but to swim in circles in tiny tanks where they’re unable to play at will, choose their own mates, or engage in any other natural kinds of behaviour. The frustrated animals gnaw on the sides of their tanks until their teeth break, and

The fox and wire motif was designed by London tattoo artist Emily Malice, and PETA pal Anaïs Gallagher (daughter of Oasis’ Noel Gallagher) fronts the campaign.

“Fur belongs on the animals who are born with it, and I’m proud to rock my fur-free status with this pin,” says Anaïs. “Don’t ever be afraid to speak up for animals – they need us to be their champions.”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” – notes that animals on fur farms are confined to cramped, filthy cages before they’re drowned, beaten, strangled, electrocuted, or even skinned alive for fur coats, collars, and cuffs. Animals caught in the

Motivated by a viral photograph showing a mother Indian elephant and her baby desperately trying to outrun flaming projectiles being thrown at them by a mob, Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston sent a letter today on behalf of PETA India calling on the Indian Ministry of Tourism to protect the country’s wildlife and ban cruel elephant rides.

“As much as I was enchanted by India when we filmed The Darjeeling Limited there, I am haunted now by the image of a mother elephant and her calf — fleeing, screaming, from a mob hurling fiery tar balls at them in West Bengal,” she writes. “I appeal to you on behalf of caring citizens around the world to ban the use of elephants for rides, move rescued elephants to sanctuaries, and empower those in the hideous elephant-abuse business to take up more upstanding professions.”

The Staggering Weirdness of Baywatch Nights

Mark Harrison Oct 1, 2018

Remember 1995's Baywatch Nights? Oh, we 'member a whole pile of David Hasselhoff-starring strangeness...

This article originally appeared on Den of Geek UK.

When we look back on Dwayne Johnson's breakthrough to the A-list in about ten years' time (“Did President Johnson get the film roles he deserved?”), we'll have to consider that his status as franchise viagra, as demonstrated in Baywatch, has led him to pick projects that are sort of beneath him.

Baywatch is the latest in a line of formerly popular TV shows to get an ironic Starsky & Hutch-style big screen reboot, following the enormous success of the Jump Street movies and the resounding failure of this year's ChiPS. With tongue firmly in cheek, Johnson has been promoting the film on his Instagram by referring to his new crew of lifeguards, including Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Kelly Rohrbach, as
