For the record, the choices herein are, of course, strictly personal. The Western is a filmic genre devoted to telling stories set primarily in the later half of the 19th century in the American Old West, hence the name. Some Westerns are set as early as the Revolutionary America (e.g. Drums along the Mohawk). There are also a number of films about Western-type characters in contemporary settings.
