G | 93 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy
The son of Zeus and Hera is stripped of his immortality as an infant and must become a true hero in order to reclaim it.
Votes: 185,580 | Gross: $99.05M
A nice movie that has many funny gags about different myths and that is innovative in the way it presentes its songs, using women in a vase as gospel singers narrating the story somewhat in Greek theatre style. The problem is that - as almost every film on Greek mythology, and this one does it a lot - is quite untrue to the myths. Hercules story is mixed with the one from lots of other heroes - such as Belerophon, Theseus and Ulysses. Besides that, Hercules is shown as a beloved son of Hera, Hades is shown as evil (and as Hercules nemesis instead of Hera) while other Olympian gods are portrayed as generous. Hercules is also shown as a more recente hero than other famous ones, while perhaps only Perseus came before him among the greatest heroes. than The satyr Philotectes is a very charming character, although not really related to the mythical Philotectes.

R | 127 min | Comedy, Crime, Drama
A modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago, Illinois.
Votes: 8,213 | Gross: $2.65M
Not what foi expect for a film to be in this list. It is an adaptation of an ancient Greek comedy to violent Chicago. Altough neither in Greece nor in ancient times, the film has many references to ancient Greek theatre (the colors, the narrator, groups of similar characters, the dialogs with rhymes). However, unfortunately, despite the interesting idea, the outcome is poor.

Votes: 50,662 | Gross: $18.85M
CGI that seems videogame, horrible acting, bad costumes and hairstyles, bad soap opera cheeseness, bizarre deviations on mythology (Hera proposed that Zeus had Hercules in the movie! Hercules's brother gets the Nemeian lion's skin after the blond and unbearded hero kills it not as part of the 12 works but because it was in the path when they were riding). There is no relation with the legend of the steongest of Greek Mythology heroes.
