Most of us have their preference to who should play what- should the Epic Mahabharata being retold as a movie, using today's cutting edge technology among other things.

What I would like to focus on is not the Entourage of Superstars, but the most befitting stars for the role, for that, a few parameters like physicality, acting skills, among other factors are taken into consideration to determine whether an actor fits the bill.

1. Ranveer Singh

Actor | Bajirao Mastani

Ranveer Singh is an Indian actor working in Bollywood. Born in Mumbai, India, Ranveer Singh had always wanted to be an actor since his childhood. However, during his college days he felt that the idea of acting was far-fetched and focused on creative writing. While pursuing his Bachelor of Arts ...

as KRISHNA Reason: In the recent times, Krishna has been depicted as a fair skinned person, so I won’t change that perception. Krishna is a character that depicts variety of emotions and needs to have a range of acting prowess, Ranveer is one actor who has it.

2. Nazanin Boniadi

Actress | Hotel Mumbai

Nazanin Boniadi is rapidly making her mark in both film and television. She co-starred as CIA analyst Fara Sherazi on seasons three and four of the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning drama Homeland (2011), for which she shared a 2015 SAG Award nomination in the Outstanding Performance by an ...

as RUKMINI Reason: She would complement the Krishna we have, a small role, none-the-less important.

3. Prabhas

Actor | Bahubali: The Beginning

Prabhas was born to late U. Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari. His family is from Mogalturu village and later moved to bhimavaram in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He is the youngest of three children, with an elder brother Pramod Uppalapati and sister Pragathi. He is the nephew of Telugu...

as ARJUN Reason: Simple, he rocked in the role of Bahubali. One needs to have that look to justify the role, one also needs to have the skills and the body to reprise the role. You cannot cast a Kartik Aryan as Arjun, while, Prabhas is the best option we have in India who can play the role and win the hearts.

4. Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Actress | Ye Maaya Chesave

Samantha Prabhu is an Indian film actress and model who appears in Telugu and Tamil films. Born to Malayali and Telugu parents, Samantha was brought up in Tamil Nadu and pursued a career in modeling during her late teens. Despite signing up to Ravi Varman's Moscowin Kavery in 2007, her first ...

as DRAUPADI Reason: She doesn't fit the bill, like at all, but we need someone who has never been seen in such a role to do justice to the role and prevent predictability from killing the character. Samantha is a talented actor, and she is versatile too.

5. Ankita Lokhande

Actress | Pavitra Rishta

Ankita Lokhande is an actress, known for Pavitra Rishta (2009), Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019) and Ek Thhi Naayka (2013).

as SUBHADRA Reason: She must seem empowered without appearing neurotic like Kagana Ranaut, she must be good looking, someone in her 30s. Couldn't think of someone who fits the bill better than her.

6. Hrithik Roshan

Actor | Kaabil

Hrithik Roshan is an Indian actor, born on 10th January 1974, well known globally for his versatile roles, unmatchable dancing skills and attractive looks.

After having appeared in films as a child actor in the 1980s, Roshan made his film debut in a leading role in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000) for ...

8. Manoj Bajpayee

Actor | Gangs of Wasseypur

Manoj Bajpayee was born on April 23, 1969 in Belwa, Bihar, India. He is known for his work on Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Satya (1998) and Aks (2001). He has been married to Neha since February 23, 2005.

Sunil Shetty made his debut in 1992 with Balwaan (1992), which was not a major hit. Yet his great acting skills got noticed. For two years success eluded him until action thriller Mohra (1994) came along in 1994. Then followed his success streak with a comical film Gopi Kishan (1994) in which he ...

as BHEESHMA PITAMAH Reason: Mukesh Khanna is the all time best Bheeshma and Shetty has both the body and the voice that is the closest to Khanna.

10. Vicky Kaushal

Actor | Uri: The Surgical Strike

Vicky Kaushal is an actor and assistant director, known for Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), Sanju (2018) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012).

as BHEEMA Reason: It will take some work from the cinematographer to make Kaushal look like Bheema despite his decent vertex and physicality, but more importantly to play the role, one has to be gifted enough to enact the wide range of emotions that Bheema represents. In particular the last few scenes of the epic, where the role of Bheema becomes even more important and gory. John Abraham has the physicality but that is about it.

11. Sanjay Dutt

Actor | Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

Sanjay Dutt, son of Nargis and Sunil Dutt, was first featured in Rocky (1981), the movie was a box office hit.

Sanjay's personal life was exacerbated by drug problems, and he later lost his wife Richa Sharma, to cancer. He was also arrested for having illegal weapons, and was imprisoned. After his ...

as DHRITSRASHTRA Reason: Dhritarashtra is an anti-hero with border line villainous persona, Dutt is perfect fit for the role just because of that.

Rachel Shelley was born on August 25, 1969 in Swindon, England. She is an actress, known for Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001), Different for Girls (2017) and The L Word (2004).

as GANDHARI Reason: Gandhari means the daughter of Gandhar, a Greek outpost, meaning the actor who plays it should look the part.

14. Tom Welling

Actor | Smallville

Tom Welling is probably best known for playing Clark Kent on the hit television series Smallville (2001).

He was born Thomas Joseph Welling in Putnam Valley, New York, to Bonnie and Thomas Welling, who is a retired executive for General Motors. He has a younger brother, Mark Welling, who is also an ...

as VISHNU Reason: I would have liked Welling to play Krishna, but he lacks the acting abilities to justify the role, also, it will take him years to be trained in Indian ways to play the vital role of Krishna, but he certainly can play Vishnu. Also, I believe giving Vishnu and Krishna the same face is not doing justice to the characters and story.

15. Akshay Kumar

Actor | Baby

Akshay Kumar, born September 9, 1967, is an actor. He studied martial arts in Hong Kong. It was a student that suggested that he try modeling. Because of his success as model, he was offered films. Along with his good looks and excellent martial art skills, he was always the first choice to do ...

18. Harshvardhan Kapoor

Actor | Mirzya

Harshvardhan Kapoor is the youngest son of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and costume designer, Sunita Kapoor. He is the brother of Sonam and Rhea Kapoor. He worked as an assistant director in Anurag Kashyap film, Bombay Velvet (2015) . He will make his acting debut in Mirzya (2016). He has a tattoo ...

21. Arunoday Singh

Actor | Ek Bura Aadmi

Arunoday Singh is an actor, known for Ek Bura Aadmi, Mohenjo Daro (2016) and Mr. X (2015).

as DURYODHAN Defence: The best option is Rana Duggabati, physically as well as acting skill wise he fits the bill, but, he already has played someone like Duryodhan in Bahubali, it would be an overkill to make him play similar character again, too predictable. Will have to find someone else for that. One option is Arunoday Singh, but he has never played anything as magnanimous and I am a bit unsure whether or not he will be able to make it work.

22. Madhavan

Actor | Vikram Vedha

Madhavan was born on June 1, 1970, in a Tamil-speaking family.

At the age of 18 his college entrusted him with the responsibility of representing India as a Cultural Ambassador to Canada.
