PG-13 | 126 min | Comedy, Drama

46 Metascore

A comedic look at the relationship between a wealthy man with quadriplegia and an unemployed man with a criminal record who's hired to help him.

Director: Neil Burger | Stars: Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston, Nicole Kidman, Aja Naomi King

Votes: 30,465 | Gross: $108.25M

7.5/10. I didn't plan to watch this film until my dad and grandparents took me to see it. I actually have to say that it was really great and I loved Bryan Cranston's performance. I'm not a huge Kevin Hart fan but he actually proved that he has acting chops and I would like to see him do more dramas.

2. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)

PG | 107 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

65 Metascore

It's been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.

Director: Mike Mitchell | Stars: Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Tiffany Haddish

Votes: 36,498 | Gross: $105.81M

4.9/10. Oh how I wanted to like this movie. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was entertaining and it didn't feel like it was a waste of time. But I just didn't have a lot of fun as I did watching the first one or the Lego Batman film. Personally, there didn't need to be a sequel in my opinion.

3. Captain Marvel (2019)

PG-13 | 123 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

64 Metascore

Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Directors: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck | Stars: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law

Votes: 347,619 | Gross: $426.83M

7.5/10. It was fun and pretty much what I was expecting. Brie Larson is very great as Captain Marvel and Samuel L Jackson is always great. But I was bummed that Jude Law played such a stereotypical and bland villain because he is a really great actor.

4. Us (2019)

R | 116 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

81 Metascore

A family's serene beach vacation turns to chaos when their doppelgängers appear and begin to terrorize them.

Director: Jordan Peele | Stars: Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker

Votes: 140,093 | Gross: $175.01M

8.8/10. So, I waited a couple of days after this film to finally write a review and to let this film settle in. And in the end, it was a great movie but I didn't love it. Now for the positives, I loved all the cast and I thought they all did amazing. Lupita Nyong'o kills it like she always does and Winston Duke along with the kids were all amazing. Even Elisabeth Moss who was in the film for like ten minutes was amazing. Jordan Peele is definitely becoming my favorite director and I can't wait for more films from him. The only thing that I guess I didn't like was the ending because it was confusing until I went on the Wikipedia page for the film to understand what happened. But I guess that's my only complaint, I definitely will watch this again.

5. Shazam! (2019)

PG-13 | 132 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

70 Metascore

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word - SHAZAM - this streetwise fourteen-year-old foster kid can turn into the grown-up superhero Shazam.

Director: David F. Sandberg | Stars: Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer

Votes: 166,374 | Gross: $140.37M

9/10. I wasn't that excited for Shazam but it actually took me by surprise and I ended up having a really great time. I loved Zachary Levi as Shazam and Jack Dylan Grazer was amazing as Billy. It was just really fun and I think it's one of my favorite DC films.

Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo | Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth

Votes: 529,248 | Gross: $858.15M

9/10. 3 Hours that were not wasted at all. One of the best superhero films of all time. I could give a full paragraph review but basically whatever everybody liked, I liked and whatever everybody didn't like, I didn't like.

8. Long Shot (2019)

Director: Jonathan Levine | Stars: Charlize Theron, Seth Rogen, June Diane Raphael, O'Shea Jackson Jr.

Votes: 37,580 | Gross: $30.32M

10/10. If you guys don't know, I'm a huge Seth Rogen fan and I'm also a huge Charlize Theron fan as well, so it's no surprise that I loved this film. I haven't seen Charlize Theron do comedy before and let me tell you that she is hilarious in this film. I know most people are hit and miss when it comes to Seth Rogen but for me, I've always liked him. This film is just a great comedy and It was full of hilarious moments from Theron and Rogen, some really heartfelt moments, and honestly was so much fun to watch!

Votes: 86,139 | Gross: $144.11M

7/10. I didn't grow up with Pokemon but I actually had a really fun time with this film. Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds were great as their characters. Not much to say but it was a ton of fun!

10. Aladdin (2019)

PG | 128 min | Adventure, Family, Fantasy

53 Metascore

A kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true.

Director: Guy Ritchie | Stars: Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari

Votes: 106,842 | Gross: $353.56M

2.9/10. I...ugh. Okay, so I tried to ignore all the negatives about Will Smith, controversy about casting, and any other issues people had about this film. But after seeing it, it was...a mess. Now two positives are Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie because they did their parts really well. But everything else, was just a mess. Mena M who played Aladdin was definitely trying his hardest and Marwin K who played Jafar was trying as hard but I just couldn't get into their performances. I could honestly go on and on but I think if you've seen anyone else's review for this, you'll understand.

11. Rocketman (2019)

R | 121 min | Biography, Drama, Music

69 Metascore

A musical fantasy about the fantastical human story of Elton John's breakthrough years.

Director: Dexter Fletcher | Stars: Taron Egerton, Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard

Votes: 54,464 | Gross: $96.10M

10/10. THIS IS HOW A BIOPIC SHOULD BE DONE! Okay, so I was actually a huge Elton John fan thanks to my mom taking me to a concert of his in October of 2018, so I was beyond hyped for this film and it completely met my expectations! Taron Egerton definitely shows off his singing and acting abilities along with making me like him more as an actor. Jamie Bell was great as Bernie Taupin and Richard Madden was able to make me really hate his character. Also shout-out to Bryce Dallas Howard who I feel did a very great job as Sheila. Also the soundtrack to this film is the best I've heard in a while. My only itty bitty complaint is that the beginning drags a little but it honestly didn't bother me. Go see this and support it!

Director: Josh Cooley | Stars: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Tony Hale

Votes: 83,433 | Gross: $424.68M

10/10. Now let me say that I was one of those people who questioned the idea of having a 4th Toy Story because Toy Story 3 ended so perfectly. But once again, Pixar has proved me wrong. I loved this film so much. The animation was drop-dead gorgeous and honestly is just so beautiful. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen always are the best part of this franchise and give their best last performance. Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele are just hilarious along with being the scene stealers in every scene they're in. Also, Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom, Canada's Greatest Stuntman, was just amazing and I hope we get a spinoff or a short for his character. Although it's sad to see this franchise end, Toy Story 4 gives it a proper ending and a touching farewell to our favorite toys.

14. Child's Play (2019)

R | 90 min | Horror

48 Metascore

A mother gives her 13-year-old son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature, he also kills people who disobeyed Andy.

Director: Lars Klevberg | Stars: Aubrey Plaza, Mark Hamill, Brian Tyree Henry, Tim Matheson

Votes: 12,682 | Gross: $29.21M

7/10. Fun Fact, I was deathly afraid of Chucky as a child. I've been an occasionally watcher of the Child's Play movies and when I heard there was a new film coming, I couldn't deny that I was interested. And it was a fun flick and what I expected. Mark Hamill was definitely a highlight and I enjoyed all of the performances along with a fun time and a fun horror movie.

15. Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)

PG-13 | 129 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

69 Metascore

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

Director: Jon Watts | Stars: Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei

Votes: 152,333 | Gross: $377.02M

7.9/10. So, I didn't really like Spiderman Homecoming and found it the most forgettable Marvel films but its a sequel is definitely much better than the first. Once again, Tom Holland is fantastic as Peter and Zendaya made this version of MJ a lot more fun. All the supporting cast was great but the star of the film is Jake Gyllenhaal who reminded me how much I really like him as an actor, also thank god he wasn't the stereotypical Marvel villain. The effects were actually amazing and I just had a lot of fun with this film. I think my only complaint was that I felt like the film dragged on a little bit during the middle. But, it was super fun! Also, THOSE END CREDIT SCENES! Makes me excited for the future of the MCU!

16. The Lion King (2019)

PG | 118 min | Animation, Adventure, Drama

55 Metascore

After the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery.

Director: Jon Favreau | Stars: Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor

Votes: 87,030 | Gross: $497.88M

6.7/10. So, did we need this remake? No. But was it still good? Yes. I was definitely questioning the idea of a Lion King reboot due to the original being one of the biggest childhood favorites and after seeing it, all I can say is, it's good. Now, the effects/photorealism is amazing and is award worthy in my eyes which is definitely one reason worth seeing. James Earl Jones back as Mufasa was great and the rest of the voice cast did very well. Full shoutout to both Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumba, they were super fun. Music was...nothing that special and everything else was just fine. Nothing new or noteworthy. I would recommend it to people who love the remakes or are fans of The Lion King.

17. Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)

R | 161 min | Comedy, Drama

83 Metascore

A faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.

Director: Quentin Tarantino | Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch

Votes: 102,598 | Gross: $115.33M

8.4/10. So like most people, I was hyped to see OUATIH and after seeing it, I can definitely say that it did live up to that hype. Now, I've never been a huge Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio fan but this film actually made me really like them. DiCaprio as Rick Dalton was just perfect and he was just fun to watch. Pitt as Cliff Boothe was perfect as well and I found him just as fun to watch. Now, Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate was perfect. I'm a huge fan of Sharon Tate and this performance felt so genuine and felt like I was watching Sharon on screen. Even though a small part, I really found Margaret Qualley as Cat was just so damn good and I'm really excited to see Margaret's future. A small complaint about the movie was the length of the movie and that there were moments that just felt like they lagged or just should've been removed but hey, maybe that's just a Tarantino choice. But that ending, I won't spoil but I'll just say it was beyond satisfying.
