3. Close (I) (2019)

51 Metascore

A female bodyguard is hired to protect an heiress on the run from assassins.

Director: Vicky Jewson | Stars: Noomi Rapace, Olivia Jewson, Abdellatif Chaouqi, Sophie Nélisse

Votes: 17,837

I love Noomi Rapace ever since she was the original girl with the dragon tattoo. Also I have followed her career hoping she will have another big hit. Even Netflix last year had a good idea with What Happened to Monday. Which she did an amazing job playing multiple roles and owing every single part she played. But here along with the movie is a complete dud. I just finished Bodyguard on the same platform which this film mirrors so much. Without all the twists and turns, the suspense, and the likable grey zoned characters. Not even the action scenes can save this film. Dull and boring is the ultimate sin for action movies and nothing here is exciting. 2/10

4. The Silence (II) (2019)

PG-13 | 90 min | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi

25 Metascore

Director: John R. Leonetti | Stars: Stanley Tucci, Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Kate Trotter

Votes: 29,750

I’ll give the movie this: it does have some smart decisions. For one the moment when Stanley Tucci turned on the wood chipper to lure in the creatures is pretty smart. But that is about it. Seriously this movie may have some redeeming factors, but not much else from some mild okay performances. Just watch Sabrina. It is so much better. 2/10

5. Murder Mystery (2019)

PG-13 | 97 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

38 Metascore

A New York cop and his wife go on a European vacation to reinvigorate the spark in their marriage, but end up getting framed and on the run for the death of an elderly billionaire.

Director: Kyle Newacheck | Stars: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Luke Evans, Terence Stamp

Votes: 79,187

I love Adam Sandler and of course Jennifer Aniston. But this add potential to me because not only does this film have Luke Evans and the beautiful Gemma Arterton. But this film is really predictable with nothing funny to comprehend it to back up the crazy stuff going on. Actually before they get on the ship it is pretty funny. It is better than Game Over, Man. Which again I am a huge Workaholics fan and this is just barely funnier and more tolerable than that film. BUT, if another Adam Sandler Netflix movies come out, I will watch it. 3/10

6. Polar (I) (2019)

TV-MA | 118 min | Action, Crime, Drama

19 Metascore

Director: Jonas Åkerlund | Stars: Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick, Fei Ren

Votes: 64,197

You got to love it when Netflix is there to add some really bad movies. So you can start the year off right. I love it. This is why I pay for Netflix because it gives me something to do. Anyway to this movie’s credit it does have Hannibal who I love in everything he is in. Go watch The Hunt (2012) it is amazing. But this movie sucks. And in more ways than just one. Hot chicks, big guns, and even more stupid dialogue to get you through the numbless violence that actually is pretty good but ultimately way to long and way to flat. The editing is okay. I would say skip it but it could be entertaining for those who love seeing naked women. And I mean hot naked women. There are more out of nowhere send scenes in this movie than there are in a porno. 3/10

7. Replicas (2018)

Four misfit campers must band together and conquer their fears in order to save the world during an alien invasion.

Director: McG | Stars: Jack Gore, Miya Cech, Benjamin Flores Jr., Alessio Scalzotto

Votes: 15,377

It is a very light and an okay film that has some laughs but holy crap it is such an average film. That is it. The kids are fine and the adults are equally fine. King Bach is pretty funny with some scenes. But Amanda Cerney is in it for like 2 minutes to only be there to make a laughless sex joke. But it is just okay. 5/10

38 Metascore

11. Unicorn Store (2017)

44 Metascore

Kit, a twenty-something dreamer, receives an invitation that would fulfill her childhood dreams.

Director: Brie Larson | Stars: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Joan Cusack, Bradley Whitford

Votes: 15,218

I will be very honest, I’m a huge fan of Brie Larson even with her comments that she has said that has angered fans of hers of not fans. Plus she is an incredible actress one who I find has grown over the years to be a truly deserved Oscar winning actress. But holy crap has she turned in some stinkers. Which she directed this and this fell off the map after the opening scene which I like a lot. It did add a lot of character in the beginning without a word every being said. And that is all on how she shot, directed, and acted in that scene. The rest of the movie falls a part from character to character not fully understanding the potential and her directing style is pretty boring for the most part. But I really hope she does get more opportunities to direct another feature length film. 5/10
