The Best Films on IMDB ranked 6.0 OR LOWER.

by witster18 | created - 07 Mar 2016 | updated - 07 Mar 2016 | Public

Everyone's is entitled to their own opinion of course, but these are MY best films under 6.1 on IMDB... as of 3/7/16, each of these is ranked 6.0 or lower. A lot of these get dumped-on even though many are actually quite good, especially within their genre. Fine, you can say that you don't like movies like GI Jane or Ice Pirates, but you cannot deny one is pretty funny and the other has some good action. Some of them get the shaft, i think, because they divisive... like World Trade Center, or Leap of Faith. Others are avante garde or racy like Only God Forgives or Passion. EIther way, I think these movies are a bit better than their score here.

Truly frightening and poignant in the gadget-age.

Bob McGraw is in his 12th year of college, goofing his way through life.

Director: Robert Butler | Stars: Tim Matheson, Jennifer Runyon, Stephen Furst, Dan Monahan

Votes: 2,902 | Gross: $11.70M

TIm Matheson's "Bob McGraw" is an ICON in terms of comedy leads. Under-rated boob-comedy from the 80's has some cheese, but mostly it's just hilarious fun.

66 Metascore

Two Port Authority police officers become trapped under the rubble of the World Trade Center.

Director: Oliver Stone | Stars: Nicolas Cage, Michael Peña, Maria Bello, Maggie Gyllenhaal

Votes: 75,374 | Gross: $70.28M

Pena and Cage are incredible here, and this film, imo, may be the most under-rated film on IMDB. I challenge all those who oppose it - asking "where is the political agenda"?

DePalma back at his noir-thriller best. Good flick!

51 Metascore

A disillusioned young writer living in New York City turns to drugs and drinking to block out the memories of his dead mother and estranged wife.

Director: James Bridges | Stars: Michael J. Fox, Kiefer Sutherland, Phoebe Cates, Swoosie Kurtz

Votes: 6,956 | Gross: $16.12M

I can see how the downer-vibe would throw some off, but this is an examination of the era it was made, and a great performance from Fox. Good soundtrack too.

6. High Road to China (1983)

42 Metascore

During WW1, an alcoholic American biplane pilot is hired by the spoiled daughter of an industrialist to find her father who disappeared in Asia.

A radio host is victimized by the cannibal family as a former Texas Marshall hunts them.

Director: Tobe Hooper | Stars: Dennis Hopper, Caroline Williams, Jim Siedow, Bill Moseley

Votes: 25,873 | Gross: $8.03M

The bridge scene is terrifying, and this isn't far behind the original. Very different, but not far behind either.

10. The Rookie (1990)

A veteran detective gets stuck with a rookie cop when in pursuit of a German crook.

Director: Clint Eastwood | Stars: Clint Eastwood, Charlie Sheen, Raul Julia, Sônia Braga

Votes: 24,152 | Gross: $21.63M

I dunno why everyone hates on this film so much. It's 10x better than the "Ride-Along" movies, and genuinely hilarious at times. Popcorn-fare if there ever was.

11. A Thousand Words (I) (2012)

Director: Brian Robbins | Stars: Eddie Murphy, Cliff Curtis, Kerry Washington, Clark Duke

Votes: 37,493 | Gross: $18.44M

Probably a product of Eddie picking some really suspect roles over the last two decades, but overall, this is a pretty good movie imo.

Amazing how many bad horror films score above 6.0 on here, and this is below.

Director: Ridley Scott | Stars: Demi Moore, Viggo Mortensen, Anne Bancroft, Jason Beghe

Votes: 70,314 | Gross: $48.17M

Sure, a pillar of the over-blown Bruckheimer stuff, but this is before it wore-thin, and perhaps the best of that lot. Good lead performance.. Viggo is also good. Intense flick.

I looks like a stupid comedy from the 80's, but in reality its a bit more of a drama with British flair.

Votes: 51,888 | Gross: $23.07M

The acting in the first half is VERY suspect, but the last 30-45 minutes is nail-biting, under-rated action stuff. If you walked-in half way through it - you'd have to give it an 8.

28. Observe and Report (2009)

A man discovers that his best friend's wife is having an affair.

Director: Ron Howard | Stars: Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly

Votes: 49,843 | Gross: $48.48M

Vaughn's been a pillar of the over-hollywooded dram-com scene, but this is actually a decent flick.
