Talents I've interviewed...Give or take a few names

by JohnnyCaps | created - 13 Aug 2018 | updated - 4 days ago | Public

I first started doing interviews in 2006. I was writing for a nostalgia website called RetroJunk at the time, and I wanted to do something a little different from the other writers. I had come to exchange a few messages with animator Jon McClenahan on an animation message board I was winding down my time on, and around the same time as that, TLC personality Ali Barone had moved to my hometown. McClenahan and Barone became my first two interview subjects.

I wrote for RetroJunk from 2006 to 2013. Along the way, I attempted to do a phone interview with original MTV VJ Nina Blackwood in 2011. Unfortunately, I didn't have a recorder at the time and I couldn't keep up when I was writing her answers, so we switched it to an e-mail interview.

In 2012, I was told that singer Samantha Fox only did phone interviews, so I purchased a phone recorder, invested in an international calling plan, and had my first successful phone interview with Ms. Fox as my interview subject. Most of my interviews from there on out would be phone interviews.

Unfortunately, after interviews I did with Julie Michaels and Jewel Shepard barely got any feedback in 2013, I started looking for a new place to write. The overhaul of RetroJunk caused me to lose a lot of readers. Thankfully, I found a new place to write when my friend let me join the website Pop Geeks in 2014. I've had my greatest successes as an interviewer on that site.

You'll notice some overlap with the list of talents I've met at Chiller Theatre, as shown in this link: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls069131736/.

The reason for that is that I interview a lot of talents who were active in the last few decades of the 20th century, and keep busy to this day in many ways, whether on the entertainment scene, working in new fields or going on the convention circuit.

This list is slightly incomplete, hence the words "Give Or Take A Few Names". The reasons for that are twofold. First, two people I've interviewed, Jessie's Girl drummer Michael Maenza and Hoboken International Film Festival publicist Lisa Munjack, don't currently have IMDB pages. Second, I've interviewed some adult film veterans over the years, yet for some reason, I'm not able to add them to the list. For Mr. Maenza, Ms. Munjack, and the adult film performers, I've listed those interviews in the description boxes for the talents I can list, mentioning when they happened.

This list will continue to be updated for as long as I'm able to do interviews. Stay tuned as the list grows.

12/23/18 edit: As I look at this list, I must say it's been wonderful to interview all the talents on this list. Whenever I do a new interview, it's like getting a gift. I thank all of the talents mentioned on this list, and the ones I was not able to include, for being so kind and courteous in taking time to speak to me. I'm truly a lucky man.
