Totally in love with Takeshi Kaneshiro, Craig Parker (mostly known as Haldir from LotR) and the guys from 30 Seconds to Mars, they're just too sweet!!
Celebrities I've met:
Tomo Milicevic (high-fived him xD)
Craig Parker (kissed his cheek twice xD)
Ray Park (Toad from X-Men / Darth Maul)
almost met Jessica Simpson in 1999, but I'm glad I didn't bother to waste those minutes of my life, lol
Much better than I expected!!
I must be honest and say that I bought this movie only because I'm a fan of Takeshi Kaneshiro. I was buying some other movies online, and since the shipping fee wasn't that bad for another DVD, I thought, 'Why the heck not? I'll give it a shot.' After all, I made that same decision with 'Returner', which made me a Kaneshiro fan in the first place.
I won't say anything to spoil this movie for you, which makes my comments a little short. Space Travelers is filled with humor and even though my expectations weren't high, it charmed its way to my heart and I didn't want it to end! I'll definitely recommend this one for everyone with a sense of humor!
Previous knowledge about the anime Space Travelers isn't needed to enjoy this movie as the movie has nothing to do with that show, but it doesn't hurt to know a bit about it due to all the hints to the characters.. ;)
Beautiful to watch, but not much of a story
Hollywood should NOT make films based on ancient stories. Because according to them, the story itself is not good enough as it is, and must be changed. Drastically.
So while the plot is the same (Prince Paris of Troy takes the Queen of Sparta to be his wife, making the Kings of Greece attack them), Hollywood simply MUST change everything else in order to fit the American audience. Because really. If Achilles and Patroclus had been lovers instead of...cousins...*snorts* the film would have flopped as badly as Alexander did.
But all things aside, the film is beautiful to watch. the soundtrack is beautiful, especially the song "Remember Me" by Josh Groban, that plays at the end credits. Eric Bana does an amazing job as Hector, Orlando Bloom looks very pretty as Paris, and although Brad Pitt could have done a much better job, he's pretty decent as the mighty Achilles.
But loads of eye candy and great actors isn't enough to make a film; Hollywood needs to stay true to a story as famous as this one if they want to make a movie out of it! ...And I didn't know they had South American Llamas in Ancient Turkiye.... how embarrassing.
The Calcium Kid (2004)
One of Orlando Bloom's better films!!
This is a sweet and charming comedy about the milk delivery man Jimmy Connally (played wonderfully by Orlando Bloom) who gets the chance to fight against the undefeated world championship holder Jose Mendez in a boxing ring in London.
I must admit I didn't have much hopes for the film, I like British comedies but the story seemed uninteresting to me, as I had only read a few (bad) summaries on the Net. I came across the trailer, and suddenly the film seemed exciting, and because I'm such a sucker for Orlando's pretty face, I got the film and I fell for it almost immediately!
This is without a doubt one of Orlando Bloom's better films. Comparing it to his other films, let's say Troy...Troy might have been a major Hollywood movie, with a famous cast, expensive sets and a huge budget, but as Hollywood destroyed the story, I suspect everyone got disappointed by it. Calcium Kid has no flashy film sets, no huge Hollywood Superstar names lining up on the posters, and not an especially big budget, but it only proves that everything mentioned above isn't needed to kick Hollywood's ass. :)
The cast of this film is great (with the exception of Billie Piper, who destroys every scene she's in), Orlando may be the big name, but the other actors shouldn't go unnoticed. Omid Djalili and David Kelly, especially, are doing terrific jobs!!
It's a wonderful film that makes you want to see it over and over again. Don't forget to check out the Deleted Scenes on the DVD!!!
