Storyline

Part VI. 2008. The legalization of same-sex marriage has had a roller coaster of a ride. The latest victory was the California Supreme Court ruling that it is a constitutional right for people of the same sex to marry each other. That led to Proposition 8 on the November ballot in California, that proposition which would overturn the Supreme Court of California ruling if it passes, which it does by a narrow margin. While the younger generation of the LGBT community have a renewed energy in taking up the fight following the Prop 8 defeat, Cleve, who saw what happened during the AIDS crisis in gay and lesbian partners having no legal rights when it came to issues of their significant other, sees a bigger picture in that there should be civil liberties for all, a fight which he sees at the national congressional level. Supreme Focus Meathead
16 May 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

As the Supreme Court argues, it is only proper that central casting gets the MeatHead out of the closet to try and defend the defense of marriage act. Of course, the Meathead only helps the cause of equal rights for all people.

Now that we are getting past this issue, the end of the Obama era ushers in the transgender issues for their rights too. We are now living in the greatest individual rights in the history of the United States. It is a different balance than ever before.

On the other side of the scale, now the IRS has to know when you file your taxes more personal information than ever before. Privacy Rights have pretty much been trampled with the Affordable Care Act. Every time you step into a retail business, you photo image is taken so your rights to your image are no longer yours. DNA research has pretty much given us a sense of a loss of our own privacy as well.

There is a difference between privacy and choice. While we have choice and pay the price for it with the Opoid Crisis and rising Suicide Rates, at least we can look at the current chaos with an Independent view. Meanwhile, shopping malls are now putting images of every customer on their closed circuit systems, but can restrict any person on their "private" property from using their camera to take a picture. No wonder internet shopping is booming. The privacy cost of stepping into a mall for anything other than walking exercise has become too great.

When We Rise is the beginning of the next battle. Will humans want to get back the rights of privacy?
