Did You Know?
The only evidence of the real town of La Belle being related at all to the show is just approximate location, its existence around the timeline used and that it was known to be a mining town are newspapers dated from 1894-1898 now located in the Library of Congress. It was known as The La Belle cresset (sometimes spelled LaBelle) before the newspaper changed its name by dropping any association to La Belle. The events in the show do not appear to be related to this town but major events similar to the ones in the series did happen in and around this era. See more
